Sorry Bill by “next year” I had in mind 2019-2020. In other words, we now have 4 LD for this coming year with the 5 year deal for Moore. Not sure why we needed to make that signing unless they planned to ship one of Gryz/Krug our or they felt like none of those kids would be ready the following season. And to me, 1-2 of those kids ought to be ready 3-5 years after being drafted right? Is that really unfair?

I think they made the signing because they wanted a LD who could play on the PK and help take some of that weight off Chara's shoulders. None of those kids were going to help do that this year. Gryz was not going to help with that this year. To get help in free agency you have to pay the piper one way or another, either in dollars or term. They chose to keep the cap hit down and go long term, but I would think that is a very tradable contract if they have need to get out of it.

I do think it makes Gryz expendable, but I don't think there is a pressing need to move him right away. I expect one or two of the young D to make the team in the next two years and when that happens they'll have moves to make but again, it's not like we have 8D with NMC's. Moore should make us better now. The other defensemen on this team are all tradable assets. Every one of them is better than Nick Holden and look what we had to give up to get him. I don't see how making us better now puts us in any kind of jam going forward.

The Lucic rumor coming back to Boston was posted on Facebook by Haggerty. I did not click on the link so maybe it was fake news idk.

Ps: you asked to post a link but that is impossible since he thread was locked.

World Hockey Feed .com has the Lucic story posted today.
There's your link Wally.

the Seguin/Lucic ship has sailed, folks.... you wouldn't have dealt them if there weren't issues there, remember who has to be convinced to bring either back, and if Neely hasn't changed his mind on either player and why those decisions were ultimately made.

Looch was traded basically because of his terrible contract and Sweeney had to clear-up some cap space and Seguins deal was absolutely terrible and for the Bruins brass to save face and not to contact the Stars to see if he was available or to pursue him if he hits the open-market next yr, would more than justify walking papers for all.

I'm confused as to why there isn't a lot of talk about Mark Stone. One of the better, more complete wingers in the league without a contract at the moment (RFA), and that team is in absolute turmoil.

Been a lot of talk about Stone going back to last season. He'd be a great addition, perhaps the best two-winger in the game. He'd cost a lot though and with the rumors of the sens being for sale, they'd have to keep some marketable players on that team, especially if they loose EK.

Marchand-Bergeron-Stone would be the best two-way line of all time.

A mature Seguin would be amazing back in Boston

I’d take him but I’m not sure everyone in the dressing room would like it

Horton was a pro and meant a lot to that 2011 team. It’s no secret where their loyalty lay

Furthermore, he’s got one year left, so aside from having to give up a lot to get him, expect him to ask for what Tavares got on his next deal which is soon

Lucic for Backes makes us worse

Backes at 80% for 60 games is better than Lucic in any capacity

It’s not 2009 anymore folks. Hell its not even 2013 anymore

I didn't see where anyone mention Looch for Backes straight-up. I did see a Looch and a whole lot more coming(Nurse a 1st & Puljujarvi ) to Boston and Backes contract going the other way as what what it would take, for the Bruins taking looch's contract off PC hand.

edit: Nevermind

I would do maybe Krug Backes and a pick for their first Lucic and nurse

That’s if you think Nurse can become chara’s replacement in the near future. He is trending up, and perhaps our staff can improve his game more than it has in Edmonton

Not to be dramatic but I would rather die than bring Lucic back

Also no way in hell is Seguin coming here. Probably going to go to f***ing Toronto right?

At least there aren't any really good upcoming UFA dmen from Toronto I think. Doughty's extending w/ LA.

What do you mean? If you think Horton hates Seguin, Seguin mentioned Horton as one of the guys from the cup run he keeps in touch with.

If ANY former Bruins is to return to Causeway Street I’d hope it would be Joe Thornton on a 1yr deal. Thornton as this teams 3rd line center would be sweet. The storyline would be fabulous, old dog returns home for shot at Cup he’s spent his career chasing.

Marchand-Bergeron-Heinen
DeBrusk-Krejci-Pastrnak
Donato-Thornton-Backes

Lucic at 3m cap hit on 3rd line LW, okay. Otherwise I want no part of Lucic and his 6m cap hit.

Seguin at 10-12m per no thanks.
He’s one of the better two-way centers in the league, that’s the going rate. After Krejci we have no one that can step up and play top 6 center. Also, I highly doubt he makes more than JT unless he resigns with Dallas.

He was an effective winger on both ends of the ice, is he really now a top a 10 center?

He didn't get any votes for Selke...top 30
