Go and draft and develop a young QB. This trade and contract just locks the Skins in to being a 4-8 win team for the next few seasons.

How many games do you think Alex Smith usually wins per year?

Alex Smith or the Cheifs?

I mean, he did have 13 wins and then 6 wins in 10 games his last two seasons with the 49ers as well. Then three 11 win seasons in KC.

He's not an elite QB, but he's fine.

Smith threw a the ball well downfield this year. Obviously Tyreek is a big part of that, but he can do it. He'll be fine in the Redskins scheme.

Schefter isn't backing off the Fuller report and he's rarely wrong. Everyone else seems to think he's in the deal as well.

I think Washington would've been better off even if they had to give up a 2nd round pick instead. It's hard to believe they couldn't get Smith without giving up a very good 22 year old CB.

Skins handled situation with Cousins poorly for two years now and now have downgraded at QB

Terrible trade (Giving up Fuller) and extension for soon to be 34 yr old QB as well

Good for Cousins to finally get out of that circus that is Redskins organization

It's funny. The Redskins had ample opportunity to lock Cousins up on what would have been a half-decent contract. He broke in 2015 and they ran the risk having it bite them in the ass by dragging it out. Cousins rightfully gets sick of dealing with the organization and now he's all but gone. Good job, Skins.

Cousins has to be the best QB talent to ever reach free agency by just being allowed to walk (not via cutting, so no Manning) no?

Edit: They can justify 24 million for a average as **** QB in Smith, but apparently paying more for a better QB is a no-no.

they werent trying to upgrade cousins. they had to find a new qb since cousins wasant coming back

Is there any other reason than salary Cousins wasn't coming back? It cost 23,5m$ against the cap to sign Smith + assets, how much would've it been to sign Cousins long term then? Especially if he's going to walk out in the free agency now.

Chargers allowed Drew Brees to enter FA. 4 year rookie deal, one franchise tag then allowed to sign for free in New Orleans.
