My guess would be since her contact was up at the end of the year, they didn't want to drag it out or create even more drama by also terminating her after he took the LOA.

I can see that but, if there were issues with players and it also sounds like there were plenty of issues with NESN staff, it was likely a poisonous situation with one common denominator.

You have to wonder if there were issues with on air staff as well. I got the feeling she wasn't very respected among her on air peers.

Of course it depends on if the “issues” with the players was consensual too

It might have been last season, but there was a postgame I think where Jack seemed to get pissed at Alex for something, I can’t remember the details. First time I thought he got that annoyed on air.

And wasn’t there a time where they removed her from a post game show because she was wearing a Flyers shirt? I seem to remember something like that happening with her

No only that, but I don’t think her in-game duties ever included interviews with certain players - and not due to any alleged issues with specific players, but because players who log more than 30 minutes of ice time for a game generally don’t give interviews during the game.

She had terrible rapport with Jack and Brick, too. I always snickered when they had her do the stupid texting poll question, and she’s toss it to Jack with a question, and Jack would promptly ignore the question and just start going back to real hockey.

BTW - Notice the lack of sorry to see you go tweets from the extended Bruins family?
Did you work with her a lot behind the bench, or did you just see her in passing? I remember at the game I went to against Florida she was on her phone a lot when the camera wasn’t going, not sure if that’s normal.

I am usually on Level 6 - She usually worked with a cameraman who would then transmit the video by cellular broadband back to Watertown.

She did need her phone to talk to the NESN Watertown studio

Aaahh this explains a lot. I wasn’t watching NESN during the Rob Simpson era and now I get the goofy references...

Guilty as charged.
But by commenting on her looks was the only way to get her attention and piss her off.
Talking about how she treated people / coworkers or other things wouldnt because I doubt she gives a ****.

So like I said let her mount her broom and gtfo of here.

...time to fly back to Philly Alex

Surprised at so much negativity here. Unless it's someone like Jamie who just jumps off the screen, all of these rinkside reporters are just kind of there IMO. We only see them what 2-3 times a game?

NESN should just film each Bruin player saying "Play our game, get pucks deep, play a full 60 minutes, fer sure," and rotate them throughout the season.
Agree. Same questions, same answers. Wash, rinse, repeat. Just have a video of each player at the beginning of the season taped, and play it when they have a *****y game. Problem solved.

I love and miss Hazel Mae. I used to listen to her all the time. Her delivery was amazing, great personality on the air, and very knowledgeable.

Now I'm curious what happened in Shenzhen.

I remember an interview while the Bruins were on the road a couple of years ago and in arena where the placement of the backup goaltender spot was kind of odd and Kraemer interviewed Rask ( who was the backup that night ) to see how he was liking his unsual seat. During the interview, he called Kraemer pretty... kind of thought that was odd at the time because as we all know, hockey players usually don't deviate from their normal responses.
