In the sense of actually watching how he plays during the games? Of how he's playing in his deployed role?

Do you really think Fehr would be playing the way he's playing without Laich and Ward? I don't.

I gave up a long time ago trying to explain to people why Laich is such a critical player.

This includes some small samples, and the games Laich was playing hurt.

Interesting that all of the defensemen except Green and Schmidt were better with Laich than Chimera. Wonder what it is about that pairing.

Probably something to do with Green's propensity for getting beat plus Chimera's speed on the back check :sarcasm:

That's also probably a really small sample as a decent portion of Laich's GP happened during Green's injury.

This is interesting. Did GMGM ever admit to mistakes like this? I can only think of the Jagr fiasco which was described more by Ted as a "failed experiment", iirc.

Frankly, I view the comments about letting the young guys develop as lip service.

Trotz's and McLellan's comments about adding up front I feel are something you see less often, and that's telling.

I never remember GMGM taking this critical approach on the roster with the media. The good thing is BMac is saying all the right things.

The furthest GMGM would go was probably saying something didn't work out, never heard him say he'd like a do over.

I like them saying this because it tells the team that you either play well or we can replace you.

There was no pressure to play well under McDerp

I see it more as sort of identifying trade candidates. One of Bowey, Barber, and Vrana is probably gone at the deadline.

I don't see that at all. I see it as saying there are holes in the roster the incumbents can't fill. "Nobody on this team is a 1RW." or something of that ilk.

I can't imagine McPhee saying with a straight face that he would do the Forberg deal over again. I think its more in his nature to wink and dodge the question. Jagr was on Ted which is why Ted is the only one that talks about it.

btw...does Forsberg REALLY have to be daily source of conversation here? I mean....I had a date with Katie Couric once. I don't think about that option on a daily basis.
