Yes. This isn't about who is just under 50 in 50, its about who hits it. I get wanting to see your guys name on my meaningless list, and was going to make a change based on filinski77's solid reco (within 1 goal), but I don't like your attitude, so the OP will stay the way it is.
Lol sorry about the attitude.

Does someone have a list of league's top 3 goal scorers in team's first 50 games for every season since 05-06?

If I've calculated this correctly, here are the most goals through a TEAM's first 50 games going back to 2005-06:

39 - Ovechkin (2008)
38 - Stamkos (2011)
37 - Kovalchuk (2008)
35 - Ovechkin (2014), Kovalchuk (2006)
34 - Ovechkin (2006), Gagne (2006)
33 - Ovechkin (2009), Stamkos (2012), Nash (2015)

I was surprised to see Nash. He scored 33 goals in his first 50 games, then scored 9 goals in 29 games from there (he missed three games as well).

So, through 50 games, there hasn't been a single player scoring at the rate of even 0.8 GPG going back to 2005-06. You'd have to go back to 1997 to find a player scoring at that rate (Jagr - with 42 goals in 1997 through his team's first 50 games).

Crazy how dominant Ovechkin has been. GOAT goal scorer.

I'd like to point out, that Pettersson is still on pace for 50/50. He's currently 5 in 5.

Not saying he'll make it happen, because I'd bet my house against it, but technically he's still in it

Just sayin'.

[mod] the team's first 50 games count when measuring the iconic 50 in 50 feat.

50 games was a full season way back so that's why the NHL acknowledges the achievement that way.

Technically, it's unfortunately not the way they track it. Earlier in the thread you'll see people talking about both Neely and Mario whom did that but were both injured so it wasn't in the team's first 50 so they've never been counted. It goes back to H. Richard doing it back during WWII on the last game of the season which was the 50th game and is why it's kind of a special to track it by the teams games. Mogilny and Kurri also did it in their first 50 games.

Ok well, the League may recognize it that way, but it's still 50 in 50 to me. Oh well, carry on

When the thread dies, could the OP shift the metrics to.....

50 goal pace thread....

50 goals in 82 games = 0.61 GPG. It's likely that, by the time Matthews, Ovechkin and McDavid fall off of GPG pace that there will be few players still at 0.61.

Right?

Eh, I like the novelty of 50 in 50, mostly because it's been done before and it's an absolute thrill to see it done. 50 in a season is an accomplishment but at that point you're just looking at the Maurice Richard leader which is basically league leader in goals. Not as fun, which is why this thread dies every season.
