IIRC Maurice Richard did it back in the days, when there was only 50 games in regular season. Thats why 50 in 50. And that's why it is tracked from teams games played, not players.

If you want to make a thread about scoring 50 goals in 50 games as a player thats fine. but the record that this thread is referring to is about scoring 50 goals in the first 50 games your team has this year

Sorry, is this a team accomplishment or a player accomplishment? I'm pretty sure it's a player accomplishment. Getting a concussion from a questionable play seems like a weird reason to "disqualify" someone, not that your particular thread is of any real value.

People bitching about the definition of the club need to stfu. Richard started it back when the season was only 50 games, that's why the team games are what counts, and since then only 4 players have done it (Bossy, Gretzky, Lemieux, Brett Hull). It's a ridiculously rare club, pretty much only for the Rocket and the best goal scorers of the highest scoring era in league history. The standard is supposed to be obscenely high. It's like the Medal of Honor for hockey. If it was easier to get, it wouldn't be as special.

Pettersson is scoring at a pace of 1.66 goals per game. Now maybe math is not your strong point.

But he is on pace to score more than 50 in the Canucks first 50 games. Whether he will is open to debate, but he is on pace to do so.

9 goals in 9 games = 1.00 GOALS per game
