Always love watching the list get smaller and smaller as the year goes on.

Ovechkin had 7 in 2 last year. This year scoring is much lower.

I'm not one for early prediction, but Matthews shot/release is lookin' incredible! The 2 on Price alone were amazing. I don't see him being held off the score sheet much.He will get more attention from opponents, but that PP is ridiculous!

I wonder who will be the last player on the list? Anyone know from last year when the last player dropped off?

My guess is Kucherov. He started out with 13 in 13, so would have fallen off after not scoring on November 2nd. (The year before I think Matthews went the farthest with 6 in 6).

So early November? It will be interesting to see if any of the guys on this year's list can stay in contention for that long.

I'd guess Matthews will be the last to fall off by the 15 game mark. Game 12-15 would be my guess

I still remember stamkos' second year in the league he was at 19 in 19. Even media was buying in. Was awesome to watch.

I remember even gretzky saying if someone was gonna do it, he would like it to be stamkos. Wasnt it even closer than that though? i thought it was like 23-24 in 24.

Forget about 50 in 50, I would settle for just someone scoring 50 in a full season.

Remeber the hot start Ovi had last year when people were saying he would put up 50 in 50? Well at the end of the day he only got 49 over the full season, and that still was enough to win the Rocket. In today’s NHL 50 in 50 is near impossible.

Matthews will get 60+. Not sure if he can get 50/50 though. Extremely tough feat (not impossible)
He had 40 as a rookie and projected to 45 if he were healthy for a full 82 games last season. Going up to 60 is quite a jump up from that. 50 goals would already exceed expectations.

No it wouldn't. Matthews has 50 goals in his last 79 regular season games. Anything less than 50 this year would be a letdown...

Huh, a Leafs fan starting a 50 in 50 thread the day after Matthews scores 2 goals. Didn't see that coming....

Anyone making any projections this early in the season is foolish.

Let's revisit this after game 30.
Its more fun to start this early, if we wait till game 15-20 there will be a cpl players on the list.

Lol jeez don’t set unrealistic expectations or anything.

30 in the nhl now gets you a top end contract. You guys better hope he doesn’t hit 50.

Leafs will be having fans play defence nights as it is just to stay cap compliant soon
