Not good taking penelties, though I guess getting more PK training won't hurt since our team needs it badly.

I would genuinely like to know the thought process in Nik's head when he's cutting to the slot on his strong hand and decides to lay off a drop pass to...umm...Andrej Sustr? I don't understand.

Last few times Dotchin was in, he would play one decent game then relapse into boneheadedness. They also don't seem to try him with anyone other than Hedman. I was thinking Coburn/Dotchin might make a physical forward-smashing duo, but you need to have at least one decently fast skater on a pair. And weirdly enough, I actually trust Girardi with Hedman over Dotchin. o_O

McDonagh obviously has talent and experience but he's got to get out of a Rangers style defensive mindset. Strålman can help with that if Mack is willing to adapt to his new team. Funny, but there's a bunch of Rangers fans who wanted to see a McDonagh/Strålman pairing while Stråls was still with them.

Edited to add: and yeah, some of our forwards seem to forget that defense isn't just up to the d-men.

Dotchin is still the 6th best defenseman on this team...at least in my view. Even though I don't agree, I understand why Cooper wants to play Sergachev over Dotchin. What I don't get is why he even seems to prefer Sustr and Koekkoek. Dotchin is easily better than them no matter how I look at it. I can't help but think that this all goes back to the incident that cost Dotchin his spot in the opening lineup. He eventually got to play but never really got his spot back. His play for a while also wasn't where it should have been but still. I don't think they would normally treat him like that. He showed what he can do last season.

My guess is that he's trying to draw guys towards him and open up ice along the boards.

I sort of feel like Domingue embellished that but it was still GI and shouldn't count
