The only reason would be because of their name alone. Clarke is unproven and to this day currently Vilardi is definitely a better player than Byfield. I don’t know how it’s ridiculous considering how extremely talented Vilardi is. Vilardi’s issue is health, but in regards to talent he’s on his own level. This isn’t a Byfield bad post either, this is why the hell did we trade that guy for PLD.
Byfield is 3 years younger and on pace for 69 points. Vilardi's career high is 41 points and in his age 21 season (Byfield's current age) he had 23 points. Byfield has 22 points already this season. It's ridiculous.

One could argue that Byfield's inability to breakout at center prompted the Dubois deal. I don't see Byfield as the type of winger that goes into the corners to mix it up and dig out the puck since he basically played center his entire life.

What I see is a natural center playing wing benefitting from the attention Kopitar and Kempe get leaving some open space for Byfield to slip into.

The is the NHL and teams will make the adjustments.

But to me, I see it not playing out as well later in the season as it has been early in the season.

I would like to see the Kings push Dubois up to Kopitar's wing and move Byfield back to #2 center and see what happens for a couple of games to see if can get Dubois some confidence/going.
The idea of moving PLD to wing is fine but to say QB doesn’t go into corners or win battles is not even close especially this year , he battled late last season and is always engaged at least what ive seen

Whining about PLD is perfectly valid considering he was the big off-season acquisition and huge haul was given up to bring him in, and then signed to a massive deal which should have made him a huge part of the core going forward, instead he's been the biggest disappointment thus far
Along with big money comes big expectations. PLD is not playing anywhere near what he is being paid. If he really is that good, he should be making a immediate impact but he isn't.

Bring back Vilardi, yeah I know he had a big motive, like Qucik did ;) ..Watching it, those two, Iaffalo and Gabe we traded... for pl something as a 1C replacement for Kopi in 2 and a half season? And BTW When Fiala will try to play responsible, we'r good. Copy/paste NYI game

So with three straight losses, are we allowed to criticize and point out weaknesses on the team now? Or is that still now allowed due to being in a projected playoff spot? I'm asking for a friend.
No, you need to experience being an NHL player, GM, coach, and scout first.

Then you need to be a part of the Kings organization to hear behind the scenes on what their strategy and thinking is.

Then you have to wait until they miss the playoffs.

And you can't criticize PLD until he's struggling to score with Draisaitl and Kucherov on his wing. AFTER his contract expires.

Until then, grab your pom-poms and cheer like you mean it or go be a Ducks fan.

You forgot one:
Boston/Vegas lost that one time -- nobody wins every game.

Do you realize how detached you sound from reality? You put more stock in nearly three months of hockey and ignore the theme this team has had for years of not being able to adjust.

I know, nothing ever changes. Nothing can change. Everything is ultimately the same. Look at Boston. They were stupidly great last year, and they still only have that one Cup a thousand years ago. Because Bergeron isn't a true winner. You don't win with that guy. Or rather you don't win because of him.

A 3 game losing streak reveals the truth. If it becomes 4? Fuhgeddaboutit.

Would be awesome if we had media that wasn’t in Full asskiss mode call out PLD and the lack of game management by our coaching staff!

It’s so crazy how coddled the modern day athlete is vs any other employee.

Huh, it's far worse with the Washington Capitals! Their owner Ted Leonsis is so obsessed with marketing, that he goes at great lengths to make sure the sports media locally doesn't talk negative about the Caps. They even filter or dictate video interviews of players and the coach so no tough questions are asked. Not one time this season has a question been asked about what is wrong with Ovechkin(clearly you can see he's playing injured and that he needs to lose 15 lbs of weight).

just gotta get in and anything can happen!
This team is not like Sutter's Kings! They will get in, but they won't get past the 1st round. TMac is the wrong coach, as he doesn't make good in game adjustments. This team does not win close games, which is what the playoffs are about. This team is soft, as the playoffs come around everything becomes more intense and physical. Kings don't play well to physical brand of hockey.

Uh only time will tell. Vilardi injury history will catch up with him and cut his career short. PLD just needs a better coach to kick his butt right, which TMac aint the answer. TMac is too much of a softy coach.
Lol, PLD already had Torts as a coach, probably the hardest coach left in the league and he still couldn't motivate him. PLD whined and cried until he got traded away from the big mean coach

and now that he's with a cuddly teddy bear player's coach he has less than half the production

so what we can conclude from this is PLD needs a foot up his ass at all times

Things haven't really changed for 3 years buddy so yeah thats kinda how things go. Im surprised that this comes as a shock to you that the coach who is one of the very in NHL history to get reverse swept; has a lot of difficulty adapting.

This is a coach who will not even use timeouts correctly in a game. TMac is so stubborn and hard set on his coaching philosophy that he will stick to it no matter how bad the game is going. He has no answers for when things go completely wrong. Basically he can't coach through and handle adversity.

It’s followed him his entire career. A good 20 games doesn’t change that.
