I wonder if his plan is to point as a comparable player at Warren Foegele whom EDM traded him for in a one-for-one trade and then immediately signed onto a 3x2.75M contract while shipping the racially abused Bear out of EDM, and the COVID contraction that caused Bear to be ditched in a hotel room in an away town for two weeks with no means to uphold his conditioning while infected core players got rescued from Canada on an ambulance and promptly returned to Raleigh.I have a feeling Bear will regret not signing the qualifying offer.
They'll be stuck on AHL compensation more than NHLI wish I could hear Maxime Lajoie’s arbitration case.

Probably wants a one way or guaranteed minimum
And funnily enough, Forsling has not played single AHL game since signing that 700k/250k SPC. He's been fulltime NHLer in Florida, with 16 playoffs games, currently starting year 2 of his new 3x$2.667M contract.Probably this exactly.
A few yrs ago, Forsling elected for arbitration because the Canes were offering him ~$800K at the NHL level and ~$80K at the AHL level. That’s a big difference. Forsling ended up signing a contract for league minimum, but with $250K guaranteed before his case was actually heard. He was plucked off of waivers by FLA that year during preseason as well.
LaJoie likely knows he won’t get a shot at an NHL spot in Raleigh, so he wants to be sure he at least is making 6 figures in the minors with the hope he gets snagged off of waivers by another team when the Canes inevitably send him down.
MacEwen and his 9 points should get a huge payday.
In all seriousness, the Jackets will likely send Laine the other way to Calgary in any deal for Tkachuk as they can’t afford both as well as Gaudreau! Tkachuk is a much more rounded player than Laine is and it’s a deal the Jackets should go after in my opinion!Yes, but the draft pick cost would be staggering to get the Flames to let him go. And Tkachuk would be locked into Calgary for a year if the offer was matched.
Funny thing, he's coming off of a two-year one-way deal with zero AHL games during that time, but looks like he's still eligible for receiving a two-way QO (which he must have received).Could be about trying to make sure he gets a 1-way contract or large AHL salary.
That's what I think, but there's some silly talk in Philly about him wanting a million plus.Could be about trying to make sure he gets a 1-way contract or large AHL salary.

So Edmonton is now $3M over the cap limit with 10 signed forwards on the roster and RFA's Kailer Yamamoto and Ryan MacLeod still to sign.
With Pulu's $3M salary on the books I would say there's $3.3M left to sign Yama and MacLeod. Klefbom and Smith's salaries total about $6.6M.Klefbom and Smith go on LTIR which leaved them with about $4.3m to sign Yama and McLeod, though that would leave them with a bare minimum 20 man roster.

BTW, Klefbom's LTIR status is a given but is 40 year old Smith's age a valid reason to take the whole season off by staying on LTIR?
And we have a winner! He regrets it to the tune of 200,000 bucks.I have a feeling Bear will regret not signing the qualifying offer.
