Good game for Ryfors. No surprise but the guy who scored 25 goals in the SHL last year can indeed score goals. As the oldest and most experienced player on the ice, he took care of business. I thought Finley looked good. He made a nice pass on the first goal of the game to Morand. I think that's something we all want to see, what's his ceiling? He moves around well for a big 6'5" / 6'6" player. He had a board battle with someone and muscled him off his feet, as he should. Morand I thought was solid as well.
My favorite line though was the McDonnell - MacDonald - Element line. After losing Gourde, Coleman, Goodrow, watch us just reload. My first time seeing McDonnell, he's small but so sturdy on his feet. He forechecks and plays hard. Like a Yanni Gourde, not afraid to get his nose dirty or initiate contact. In the words of Al Murray, he's a bolt. MacDonald was nice and physical. Same with Element. Element's on a 2 year AHL deal out of the QMJHL, but he looks like a guy who could earn a NHL contract down the road.
The only player I was really disappointed in was Lipanov. This is a big year for him, #3 on his ELC. I was kinda hoping to see more from him, but didn't get it.
