Considering how many injuries the team has had and jumbled schedule, I’ve been okay with Kuemper’s performance so far.

It's kind of funny that the three names that were talked about the most last year (Kuemper, Grubs, and Merzlikins) are in the bottom 10 of starters this year.

The other important thing to note is that Kuemper, not only is with a different team (although I don’t think that has a huge effect when the team you’re going to is better) but he’s also working with Parkilla. We’d need a shout out from @Gigantor The Goalie to give us an assessment on if he sees any differences in Kuempers style from when he played in Arizona. Challenging more or less, different positioning, stance, etc. That can have a monstrous effect because you’re doing your best to not fall into previous habits.

Honestly I think we’re able to handle our off-season issues okay if we make some smart moves. Trade JTC and Jost, buyout EJ. Savings of $9.5m less $3m in replacements for a total savings of $6.5m.

Re-sign Nuke 6 years by $4m
Re-sign JJ 1 year league min
Re-sign E. Johnson 1 year $1.5m (see Micheal Stone for reference)
Sign Forsberg 7 years $7.5m
Sign Hertl 7 years $7.5m
Spend a total of $7.5m on goalies.

Sign Maltsev, Bowers and NAK for an average of $850K. Give Kaut, Olausson and Ranta all a shot at the third line.

Girard for Connor?

I love Kyle Connor more than most but that’s just not what we need for the playoffs. He’s a great sniper/goal scorer but We’ve got the highest scoring team (goals per game wise) in the league by a significant margin (almost .4 more than the next team).

The biggest issue is the PK and our inability to win key draws when we need it. We also could use a guy that scores unskilled, scrappy and dirty goals in front of the net. That’s playoff hockey and where we’ll miss Saad the most.

The guy to target (once again) is Pageau. He ticks all the boxes on what we truly need. Send G to the Isles, get Pageau and then find a serviceable dman that could play PK and we win the Cup no doubt in my mind.

I question what he’s actually good at, he doesn’t generate a ton of offence and struggles in his own end winning board battles and in front of the net. Do we seriously pay him 5M to skate pucks out of the zone?
