Getz ain't goin' anywhere, he was given multiple chances to jump ship and didn't. Even if they plummet down the standings he'll stay with them.
He almost went to Vegas at the trade deadline. Anaheim didn’t like Vegas’ offer.

Statistically Girard is the best transition dman in the league.

Girard is better at skating the puck out of the zone. One of the best in the league. Byram is better at outlet passes on the breakout. Also one of the best in the league.

That said I think Cale is clearly better at skating the puck out of the zone than G. He just usually gets matched up against opposing top lines because he's usually playing with the Avs top line. Which would make it harder to skate out of the zone and skew the stats in Girard's favor.

G is a great puck moving defenseman but a lot of of his (the whole D really) analytics are misleading. Especially the defensive ones, which are impacted by the Avs playing in the O zone more than any other team, and limiting scoring chances that way, as opposed to actual ability to defend.

Not quite the best, but certainly among the very best and for quite a while now.

This was from the 19/20 season, Chabot looks like the only one who had better Carry outs, but Girard was also very good at stretch passing and very rarely had to resort to just a dump out. Overall he was just a phenomenal breakout Dman even before the Covid season where everyone likes to discount his stats because of the "easy division" the Avs got to play in.

Now looking at The Athletics deep dive on Transitional Dmen in the covid season and again he's among the very best.

Defensive zone:

Neutral Zone:

Offensive Zone:

And then overall:

Certainly among the best transitional Dmen in all three zones. He's especially elite in the neutral zone and offensive zone but his defensive numbers are still great.
