NBC is saying that the KHL will go directly to the playoffs.

Nishikin team’s, 6th, and Ponomaryov’s team, 5th, are in.

Kotchetkov’s team, 9th, will not be.

Do we ask Kochetkov to come play or does Lafontaine’s addition make it too crowded.

Kotchekovs contract was canceled by Torpedo. He could be brought over now.

How does this make any sense from Torpedo's point of view?

Kochetkov has had such a friggin roller coaster in the KHL. Let's bring the young man over and get him same games in the A. We will have too many guys down there but we can figure it out or release/trade somebody.

His contract ends in May, which no longer makes sense as they have cancelled the rest of their season. Since his team didn't make the playoffs, he's just stuck there on a technicality. By terminating the contract, they are allowing him to go play elsewhere.

This situation could be confusing, or some available information could be incorrect. EliteProspects showed Kochetkov under contract through next season. If that is true, then terminating his contract is a bit strange as it would make more sense to "release" him for the remainder of the season.

KHL contracts may have option years, for example a 2+1 year contract. Usually team's option, I understand, buuuut.

Goodwill. He's (plausibly) not signing a KHL contract to be eligible for the Canes NHL SPC, but he may yet end up getting loaned back to Torpedo for the next year. For example. It's not in Torpedo's interests to try and slow him down from contracting to NHL.

Turns out he already has an NHL SPC in effect.

Torpedo announced it as a one-year deal last year. I wonder if EliteProspects got his KHL and NHL contracts mixed up.

At least one source says the playing contract has been terminated but that Torpedo retains his rights. I just don't know enough about KHL contracts to interpret what that might mean.

As Koch has an NHL SPC in effect, that KHL contract really isn't an actual contract (which would conflict with the NHL SPC) but some sort of facilitation by which (the loan to KHL and) his playing terms are agreed on between Koch and Torpedo. KHL loans are tricky business where I believe the league brass will have to be involved.

KHL teams have rights to players like NHL teams do. Within the KHL context, that about means that in KHL Koch is Torpedo's guy and can't contract with any other KHL team for example for a season 22/23 loan.

Nikishin getting ice time down 1 with 1 minute left, crazy the amount of trust this kid’s coaches have in him in this Olympics and the KHL. I’m convinced he’s gonna be a stud for us soon enough.

Flyers fan is here. What happened with Rees? Was a monster in OHL, in my 2019 rankings he was 19th. Injury or another junior league`s hero?

He's been inconsistent in the AHL, I think he has had several injuries, missed significant time with one earlier this year/offseason I believe. I was very high on him a few years ago too, not giving up in him but definitely pumping the brakes a bit lately.

If Spartak is eliminated by the 2nd place jokerit team in the first place, do we “loan” Ponomaryov to Chicago too?

I've long thought that the natural and hopeful progression for Jamieson Rees is that he turns into Brock McGinn. I would be really surprised if Rees turns out to be anything more. He ain't looking like a home run at this point, but a Brock McGinn would be a solid single or double.

I'd consider trading Bokk for anything we can get at this point. 3rd round pick would be great, maybe some other team will think they can develop him.
