hopefully Adam is academically inclined! - why? does his grade 11/12 combined next year in Chicago while playing in ushl with his big bro...
then goes to Ann Arbor U of M with him, same time, to continue the bromance...and they join Owen Power (also from Chicago ushl)
dreaming, far fetched? perhaps....but google Craig Simpson - played at Michigan State as a 16 yr old..and eventually drafted #2 by Pens in '85 behind Wendel...mind you Simpson's older bro was an ohl all academic (and ohl superstar)...and the old man was a prof at the UWO biz school in London...just thinking...

For a 3rd overall picked player declared a defect, the team is awarded the 5th pick and a pick at the end of round two. What is the compensation for the 2nd and 1st picks?
I believe all comp picks start at 5 after non playoff teams

All comp picks are as follows 1st round only on defective 1st rounders can be claimed as comp picks. The comp pick will always be one selection behind the defective pick in the following year, I haven't every heard of what number comp picks start at only that it's ever been 1st rounders.

Quiet simply I haven't ever seen a team select higher than 9th when Owen Sound picked Victor Mete at 8th overall who was declared defective selection. But there could be a limitation. I do however recall that the compansation selection must report if they fail to report the following year the round drop one round every year following until it gets locked as a 4th rounder.

But of course I've never seen a team awarded a compansation pick ever fail to get the comp pick to report.

Barrie - McBain, Miss - Hughes were compensatory picks that did not report.
I had asked if there would be more comp picks for 1 & 2 picked defects than the 5th pick and end of 2nd round pick that Flint & Peterborough received when the 3rd pick did not report.

what I’m unable to find is or is not more comp picks the further a team is removed from comp 5th; say for example, a team with a defect 2nd gets the 5th pick, plus pick end of 2nd round, (plus pick end of 3rd?)

This does not jell with the Flint draft picks on the OHL Data base. Very different.

The only difference is the draft pick database has Flint owning their 4th and the list @James1 posted says they don't have a 4th. That's the only difference.

What each round overalls are (how many Flint has in that round according to DraftPick database) : what James1 posted they have
Round 1: 1-20 (1) : 1
Round 2: 21-40 (1): 1
Round 3: 41-60 (1): 1
Round 4: 61-80 (1): 0
Round 5: 81-100 (2): 2
Round 6: 101-120 (0): 0
Round 7: 121-140 (1): 1
Round 8: 141-160 (1): 1
Round 9: 161-180 (1): 1
Round 10: 181-200 (1): 1

Thanks you Generalsupdates. There was also a difference in the overall pick number compared to what is listed in our thread but only by one or two spots..

Spencer Sova says in an article he would be willing to report to any OHL team. Would be honoured to be drafted in first round.

I’d be shocked if Windsor doesn’t select him at 14.

Who on the board would want to conduct a mock draft? We could do 1st, maybe even 2nd round (or more I suppose) if posters wanted to. I'd represent the wolves if enough posters are interested to do it, we'd need someone representing every team however. Could also do it where we ask each board to vote on a pick. Let me know however as time is running out, but would be a fun self-isolation, hockey related thing.

So reply if you're interested along with which team, and whether you'd want it to be a vote for every board, or individual posters choose and if we have enough lets get it started!

Posters - Team:
hockeynorth - Sudbury Wolves
Petes - Peterborough Petes

Edit: will make it's own thread for this so as to maintain this one for draft specific talk

Flint was to have a 3rd and a 5th pick in 2000 and latter was for Mcleod who defected. Flint lost their higher pick because of Owner. Drafted #53 with that 5th pick.

Only 2 picks each from JRC and Quinte - 2 best teams in Ontario by a mile.

Titans and Marlies get 2 picks each and never really beat anybody of note all year.

Poor Nats and Vaughan - they were really in the top 3 GTHL teams and only have 1 pick between them!

Someone has a better marketing department.
