Dubnyk off the roster is move #1 but getting Parise off the roster shouldn't be far behind

Remains to be seen. Personally, I think that the Islanders thing was a little bit of lightning in a bottle, but I guess we'll see.

I’d be shocked if any GM is dumb enough to take Parise contract on with the flat cap

I would Trade Greenway+ for Dylan Strome
Buyout Dubnyk
Look into signing Lehner

I’m sure you guys can put some lines together in your head from there

Going back to the Dubnyk buyout.... Don't we get $1M in cap relief for sending Dubnyk down, so buying him out would really only result in an extra $800K?

They didn't know that those guys needed contracts 2 months ago?

I'm sure they did. I'm sure they know that they'll need to move a contract or two already. But making that swap drops that number another $2 million and makes it all that much harder. Remember, the potential Ladd/Parise swap didn't have Pageau's $5.5M on their books at the time.

I mean, they could possibly be looking at ~15M combined for Barzal and Pulock.

NYI are going to have to pay through the roof this summer to move a few of Clutterbuck, Cizikas, Konarov, Boychuk

Found it:

What is a Buried Contract?

Teams do not receive full cap relief when a player on a one-way NHL contract is reassigned to the American Hockey League, or is loaned to a team in another professional league.
The players salary cap hit, minus the sum of the minimum NHL salary for the respective season and $375,000, still counts towards the team’s salary cap total.
The cap hit relief is therefore equal to the minimum salary of the respective season + $375,000:
  • 2014-15: $550,000 + $375,000 = $925,000
  • 2015-16: $575,000 + $375,000 = $950,000
  • 2016-17: $575,000 + $375,000 = $950,000
  • 2017-18: $650,000 + $375,000 = $1,025,000
  • 2018-19: $650,000 + $375,000 = $1,025,000
  • 2019-20: $700,000 + $375,000 = $1,075,000
  • 2020-21: $700,000 + $375,000 = $1,075,000
  • 2021-22: $750,000 + $375,000 = $1,125,000

I'm like 95% sure I remember there being NHL cap relief of the league minimum when a player is sent to the AHL. I'll see if I can find it.

There's also a good chance that Dubnyk quits if the Wild send him down

Somewhere in Quebec.
Find the course first of all.

we are not good enough to win a cup and to be honest making the playoffs may be a stretch next year.

Kevin Fiala I have high hopes for, same with Kaprizov but this won’t be enough.

We need one of Lafreniere or Askarov, that’s the minimum right now we just can’t take down the big boys as we stand.

A Parise trade is likely, it’s been rumoured for a year now, you know it’s coming up again.

I think you have to let the Rask contract run out, same with Dubnyk.

we’re in no mans land and if you look at our lottery competition they’re all way ahead of us in terms of top tier talent and game breakers.

I like Staal, I like Koivu, but come deadline we need to cash in and let them go to a contender. This isn’t a 1 trade fix and dark times are ahead as our top players age out.

We don't even really know if there's going to be a place to send him to. Probably can still do a paper transaction though.

yes. Getting Parise out of the locker room and out of the lineup is the most important part. Getting rid of his NMC doesn't hurt either.

It's the only other situation that I can see where the team might want his services, can afford his services by sending back a contract that they might want to get rid of that is somewhat similar to his, and that he might be open to going to.

I guess as long as we're ok with possibly having another Dubnyk that makes more and is signed for another 4 years.

I don't see any chance of the Jones trade happening. Would be pretty tough for a GM to have $10M worth of goalies in Iowa.
