Significantly front-loaded contracts are also no longer allowed under the new CBA. The first year in a front-loaded contract can't have a salary more than 25% greater than the subsequent year, and the difference between the highest and lowest paid years can't be more than 40%. Hall's still too young for that kind of deal to be attractive to him in any case.

That's not quite correct. You can stagger the contract anyway you like, but the difference between the highest paid year and the lowest paid year can't be more then 35% IF the contract is 6 years in length or longer and the deal takes up 7.5% of the teams cap or more.

Any other contract can have a 50% difference between the highest paid year and the lowest paid year and that can be split up in any way, front loaded or back loaded.

If we sign Hall to a 5 year deal we better start drafting some centers lol. We will have plenty of wingers and young D, but really nobody to take over for Krejci and Bergeron.

The Bruins have drafted multiple centers (some also play wing) since GMSweeney took over:

Studnicka
Beecher
Frederic
Hall
Steen
Hughes
Kuntar
Mantykivi
Shen
Duran
Filipe
Becker
