So basically its the same odds as if there is a full season? That's bullshit because now 24 teams can have their cake and eat it to!!! To me, you can't have both, either u have a chance at the Cup but don't get a chance to jump up more than 4 spots or you don't make the playoffs and have a 7 team lottery! This is a one yr thing, thus 24 teams make the playoffs and only 7 are in the lottery with the Wings getting chance of picks 1 or 2. There is a clear bias against the lower level teams!

Ya, I think in terms of 1st overall pick the odds go:

1. Ottawa (two high picks)
2. Play-in losers
3. Detroit

I will be very surprised if the Pens lose to the Habs, but I could def see the Leafs bounce us. I gotta think Bettman is very happy with this decision, they managed to make the draft lottery even more exciting than it already was. The event should attract maximum attention now.

There's going to be 2 lotteries, First one June 26th for the 1-7 teams that were eliminated from the playoffs. Then i guess the 2nd for 8 through 15 after the play ins i would assume.

Sick and tired of this lame crap, Looked like at the very worse #1 or #2 overall. And now back to #4 and the sad part is that a team that has a chance of making the playoffs has the same chance to get #1 overall Thanks Bettman.

Yeah, but what if Oilers will lose to Chicago, get the no.1 pick, trade it for Ottawa's no.2 and no.4 pick and create that slightly overpowered 1-2-3-4 punch with McDavid, Stützle/Raymond as his winger, Draisaitl centering the 2nd line, Byfield the 3rd and newbie 60pps Nugent-Hopkins on the 4th.

But whatever.. we still have a top 4 pick.

Yzerman was vocally against a June draft even though it would have seemingly increased our lottery odds by a lot.

That was pretty frustrating to hear. I commend his professionalism but I think he kinda got a free pass around here for that.
