Exactly. It was pretty baffling to me.It felt like the right place to gamble on Lapierre. They got free money with Laffy, and need high end centers with the house money pick.
Idk. I don't think they were as smart as we are painting them.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t initially disappointed with these 3 picks, but at least Holtz is something to be excited about.
I hope this ends up looking better in a few years than the Bruins 2015 draft where they had 3 1st rounders and flubbed it pretty badly.
Foote - Hughes - HoltzIf Holtz is like a Laine ... I’m cool with that. Every team needs a trigger man on the PP and him rocking out with Hughes for the next decade is going to be fun to watch.
Poor Nico... gets the dregs of the scoring forwardsFoote - Hughes - Holtz
nico is taller and better equipped for physical battles. imo he needs less help and protection. i also assume hughes will lead the line mainly responsible for scoring, while hischier's line will be more of an all situation line.Poor Nico... gets the dregs of the scoring forwards
Perhaps:
Bratt - Hughes - Holtz
Foote - Hischier - Gusev/Clarke/Thompson/Mercer/Boqvist/Whoever earns the spot.
Are we sure Holtz and Foote are our best scoring winger options?Poor Nico... gets the dregs of the scoring forwards

Let him play in Sweden at a minimum this year. No point in dragging him across the pond with the uncertainty in the league right now.I wonder what the ETA is on pick 84?
Sure? No. I just think it's probable. Are we sure Holtz and Foote are our best scoring winger options?
Probable that Foote is better then Bratt or Boqvist? Not to mention Gusev or Palms.Sure? No. I just think it's probable.
