for the US, as it looks right now, this draft is a down year compared to the past 2 years and ofcourse 2015/16 as strong drafts as well.

there is some highend talent here, but not as much as years prior, and the depth really hasn't shaken out yet but my fear is this might be a 2014 draft for USA Hockey...hope I am wrong overall..

top names right now for the US-

Tyler Kleven - D
Dylan Petersen - F
Ryder Rolston - F - son of Brian Rolston
Ty Smilanic - F
Antonio Stranges - F
Wyatt Schingoethe - F
Thomas Bordeleau - F - son of Sebastien Bordeleau
Marcus Gretz - D
Gerard Keane - D - brother Joey Keane
Miller Mitchell -D
Tanner Latsch - F
Stephen Halliday - F - dual Can/US
Luke Reid - D - dual Can/US
Luke Tuch - F - brother of Alex Tuch
Lukas Svejkovsky - F
Sam Colangelo - F
Blake Biondi - F
Dylan Robinson - F
Jake Sanderson - D

more to come from there, but for now this is a good start - overall some top kids like Kleven (my #1 right now), Petersen, Smilanic, Stranges, and Rolston all top 31 picks...maybe 1 or 2 can crack top 10 right now...after those names, a lot of wild cards and players all over the place.

Completely agree. Good post. The only name I'd add right now is Sean Farrell. He might be better regarded if his team wasn't so talented. He doesn't play much because of it. Part of it is that he's not as good as those players, Rolston is, but I think he's a mid-round prospect for now. I think of the first rounders, we could see a couple put their names into the hat for top 5-10. I don't think there's a sure thing forward there in this age group, but it still looks like it could produce some good players.

2020 prospects on Finnish u20-league:

Roni Hirvonen 5. 4+4=8
Veeti Miettinen5. 2+5=7
Anton Lundell 5. 4+2=6
Kasper Simontaival 5. 2+2=4
That group of kids is going to be like the laine-aho-pujl trio when they are 18.

Or like Rajala - Granlund, Granlund, Aaltonen. They're not nearly as big.

Apart from Lundell who is 6"1 already. He's probably also the most promising out of these kids. Simontaival is highly skilled, small but has solid frame and is quite strong on the puck. Not sure but I'm under impression that his growth has more or less stalled, which would be unfortunate.

Yeah, he stayed in the shadow of Oliver Suni hype last season in Kärpät B juniors. Still he scored remarkable 13+28. Now he's scoring 1 PPG in Tappara A and Suni is underperforming in Kärpät B, 2+1 so far (for comparison Suni's team mate Aatu Räty has 9+7).

Tuomaala is 6'0" now but needs more power. When he develops physically I'd rank him third right after Lundell and Sedoff.

Lol this is hilarious, Pavel's son isn't even 4 yet . It's Valeri's son that is being talked about for 2020, I'm not sure if you're mixed up or if this is the first player mentioned for the 2030 draft.
Could you guys please go to discuss about Pavel junior to 2031 NHL prospect thread :D
Pavel II isn't exactly a low-profile prospect when he's taking photographs with Vladimir Putin and having his development followed by the media. In this video, he's doing a one-timer drill with his father.

Craig Button is already taking notes on that draft class!

Any names starting to come up as far as Goalies are concerned? I know Goalies are usually a crapshoot, but surely there has to be some notable goalies coming up in the CHL or elsewhere this season?

Kid would get creamed coming across the blue line looking down at the puck like that in the NHL. Really choppy skating and puck control, too.

Bust.

Cole perfetti is going to be climbing up the rankings real quick. A lot of talent in this draft class offensively.

How so? You don't seem to like him at all.

I'm not sure what to think of Holtz actually. His goal scoring instincts are the best I've seen from a Swedish prospect probably. On the other hand, for every good play he makes he seems to make a few really low IQ plays. Might just be an adjustment period.
