if I am a Jets fan, I don't hate having a terrible season

you will get a new coach and get a franchise changing QB in Lawrence if you end up with the 1st pick

Wasn't the Jets o-line one of the worst in the league last year with the Giants?

How was that not addressed? That line was absolutely trash in this game. The WRs are awful too. No separation and lots of drops.

Gase play calling is hilariously bad.

Yeah but if you don’t get the first pick then it gets dicey in a draft that has infinitely more question marks than ever with how this college football season will play out. Plus as horrible as the Jets are I don’t see them out sucking a few of the tanker teams.

They did address it, with Bechton and a bunch of mid level FA signings. Of course this offseason being what it was it might take half a season for this line to gel, assuming they stay healthy.

but Darnold was nowhere near the prospect that Lawrence is

you gotta get the right head coach in there first. Gase ain't it, and I can say that from experience.

You are right about that.

But I'm just not confident that :

1.) The Jets get a real head coach next

and

2.) Even wind up with Lawrence knowing their crappy luck

:( :( :(

The Jets replaced their entire o-line from last year. The problem is that it will likely be tough for them to gel given they’re being thrust into in game action right away without preseason games.

I get some teams will likely look rustier than others due to the situation from the pandemic but the Jets just looked so woefully underprepared and I fully blame that on Gase. I want him gone so badly.

I feel for Darnold, I think his development has been a challenge between both Bowles and Gase. No offensive line to speak of either and very limited weapons at his disposal.

Just another year of misery in Jetland.

The GM's haven't helped either. I like Douglas and am willing to give him a chance but so far he's been no better at getting Darnold weapons than Maccagnan was. It does hurt that Mims has been lame all of camp but even with Mims this is probably still the worst WR core in the NFL, especially after trading off Robby Anderson for Perriman.

I fear it will take another offseason and a high draft pick (or picks...plural) to get Sam more weapons and/or a FRIGGIN' PASS-RUSHER.

Josh Allen had time to check his cellphone, surf the net, drink a cup of coffee, and read a book before tossing a TD pass. :shakehead

There was ZERO.....ZERO pressure.

And the only time he scrambled is when it was PLANNED by him.

The Jets have needed a Pass rusher since John Abraham.

ground control to bucco tom….

your tampa team is oh-and-one

Brady was ok. Looked good at times looked old at times. His brain is still sharp. TB made multiple errors at multiple spots and NO has excellent special teams. The Bucs held NO to only about 200 total yards passing and they were still one out of bounds step at the goal line by Kamara from giving up 40 points. I think Tampa will get better during the next few weeks as they mesh but will fade in the second half as their older players get worn out.

If I was in charge of the Jets I’d try to get a positive and upbeat player friendly coach and some really good coordinators. The NFL relies more on effort and emotion to my eyes than any other league. You can’t win without buy in as I see it. Just look at NO and ATL. NO has almost never had better personnel than ATL with the exception of QB (although Ryan is no slouch) but NO has been the better team most of the last 15 years. I attribute a lot of that to Sean Payton versus the various coaches in ATL.

Then I’m building the offensive and defensive lines. It’s the NFL. You should be able to do that in two years. I wouldn’t start with a child QB. Getting a Mahomes or a Watson is a gift and the exception not the rule. Get a smart veteran that will bring he team along and then go to a younger guy when the rest of the team plays with confidence.

I’ve always been more of a Giants fan but I’d like to see the Jets win. Building a team in the NFL is doable if the team can set about a three year timetable which is hard in the NFL.
