They'll definitely be signing him. He brings a component they are light on and Gorton definitely learned his lesson on being too small in New York.

Take a look at Winnipeg‘s roster….they are getting ready for some heavy games. As long as we have CC & Hutson in our lineup we will need good skating heavy bodies on our roster. Tuch isn’t a “great” skater but he gets around.

Looks like size never went out of style for several teams and some continue to shun undersized players. Our issue has been the rostering of too many of the same type of forward — a guy like Tuch upsets that trend and will be a welcome addition as he continues to progress.

It'll be nice to have a good 4th line for once instead of just a collection of "meh" players. The year we had a solid 4th line that played the role, we went to the finals. It's a huge piece of the puzzle. I hope Tuch is the first piece to a remodel.

We have already tapped out our "small" guys, along with small prospects up front: Mesar, etc...

There is no more room for any player sub 6'0" 190lb.
This also why Zegras is not the option at C. The Habs need to get bigger, bulkier stronger up front.
Our Defense is shaping up to be the best we've seen since the 93 cup year. What we are missing is a 6'2" 1C PPG player, like a Pierre Turgeon. Doesn't have to be a super star, but a bonified #1 ahead of Suzuki (who is the perfect 2C) on a cup winning team..
With some lotto luck we get a shot at cayden Primeau or even Celibrini (who is a star and will do if slighter). Outside of Primeau, i say take the best D prospect possible, which will allow us to package out other prospects and WPG/CGY 1sts and our 1st next year if needed to land that 1C..

Once that piece is in play, this team will look really good next year making a run for wildcard... and in a few more a run at the cup.. hugo is creating two windows and it is perfect along with bargaining chips, abundance of picks and cap management.

Finally Habs are being rebuilt correctly...

In todays team make up (importance on depth and development) the drop off in pay is 3rd-4th lines. This positions should be a mix of aging vets and ELC rookies.

Well if Gallagher isn't bought out, traded with retention, sent to Laval, or in the stands, I hope he's a piece of the 4th line for the next 3 years and not taking up a spot in the top 9.

A certain time ago at this site, the question of David Fischer's status arose, in regards to whether if he remained unsigned, would the Canadiens be awarded a compensatory second round pick in 2011?

I think those teams that are overvaluing size are those that do it at the expense of significant skill and IQ.

However, size does have its place, especially seeing how the NHL does not apply the rule book in the playoffs in the same way as it does the regular season. “But it’s playoff hockey!”

Hab fans have seen way too many editions dominated by smallish players in the last 30 years to ever consider size as overrated. It’s definitely a desirable attribute in optimizing a team’s asset mix and given the still undersized, not overly physical team the Habs are rostering, someone like Tuch should have a role.

We would all agree the game is much changed from decades past and far less hostile to sub-6’ players, but it’s not like the average size of players is going to trend down in the coming decades. Future cyborgs might be leaner and trimmer, but they’ll all be 6’2+.

Adam Nicholas has been regularly working with him in Beantown and Hughes has known & coached him for a long time - his kids played with Tuch
