Fletcher will make the same changes he would have made before the free fall, get a veteran RHD, upgrade Elliott.
He'll see who he loses in the ED, I expect him to expose Voracek, JVR and Ghost, and protect his young players.
They'll add Frost, Allison, Laczynski to the roster, maybe York and Zamula.
Then the onus will be on AV to turn it around.

Just too much noise to make major moves right now, AV had this team playing their best hockey in a decade last spring, they don't have their legs in the bubble, then a clusterf--k season. The contract and his track record will give him one more chance to turn it around.

Now if they're out of the playoffs by January, AV is history. And so are some veterans.

Good f***ing lord has Meltzer just gotten fully on his hands and knees and lapped everything dripping off of Flyers management.

Using last year a barometer for this year is a f***ing poor decision.

Also, AV blaming new kids on the PK when the PK has roughly been the same players, minus Niskanen, is being dishonest and disingenuous as f***.

well its clear AV will literaly never accept any blame on himself...

its been exactly the same coach at every stop..

just a wrong hire, time to accept it and move on.

but they wont..

Curious to see what is worth more to them, keeping on AV for 3 years and $15M or finding out that you're probably going to lose more from the fans than knowing that he's still the coach?

If they're watching this team regularly, probably a fifth a day.

Are we hopping on the Gerard Gallant for coach train? Has a good track record, and I'm not saying that because I'm also from PEI!

edit: For the love of god, fix special teams.

He’s my #1 guy.

After a decade of “defense” and a product that is boring as dirt - his brand of hockey is something I desperately need.

If he sucks? Fire him. That goes for any coach. The loyalty this club shows to its HC’s is strange, especially after the embarrassment that is this season. Right or wrong, have some damn pride and roll some heads.

This is our only possible hope. I firmly believe they will lose a lot more than $15 million if things continue on this path next season. There's no reason they won't. It's a complete failure of a system. It makes Hakstol look like Shero.

Meltzer is going to end up being deeply bitter about the inevitable humiliation when AV/MT/Yeo fail him after this insane crusade in their defense. You know he's gonna carry a chip on his shoulder, and he's gonna try to be all gloaty about AV when some dumbass dino GM gives him another job only for it to blow up in his face yet again.

Two different reasons for that one. One is that GMs usually get a max of two coaching hires, admitting to mess up the first hire makes it harder to get to the second hire (Hextall). Two is that AV is getting $5 million per year for the next three years and Comcast won't give money like Snider would to hand wave away the problem.

Even if you thought AV was a tremendous coach, he still clearly has lost the room. Meltzer's is just a mouthpiece. If he was remotely objective he would at least admit that.

This is going beyond being a mere mouthpiece though; he could just ignore all of this. It obviously chaps his anus and sincerely bothers him.

One of the traps that NY fans warned us about was AV's bizarre ability to make the press absolutely adore him for no reason.
