Jake hasn't shown much decline. He's scoring at a higher rate this year, especially at EV, than all but 3 of his 10 seasons here. Only reason to lose Jake is for value.
He's currently scoring at the 4th highest rate of his 13 year career, while being screwed on the PP and used like a 3rd liner at 5v5.

People are just frustrated with the team and are letting that skew their perspective on individuals.

Exactly.

Let's say we can't trade Jake for anything of value (I still think we can) and want Seattle to take him...then you have to ask yourself a few questions:

1) Are you done trying to compete right now?
2) Do you think his cap space will get a replacement with his output?
3) What if you don't get anyone to replace him via Free Agency or Trade...did we just make ourselves worse when we didn't have to? Do you trust another winger to take his roles next year?

Giving away Jake just seems like a really odd move when we're supposed to be in our compete window. I'm good with a "hockey trade" when it comes to Jake - but dumping him seems like we're begging to be a mediocre team.

Voracek can be an aggravating player, but, face it, he's essentially unmovable in the current cap environment. And if they move him, they aren't going to get a better player in return.

Not an expert on these so maybe someone can tell me where I'm wrong but the advanced stats show he hasn't been great this year. Not saying he's a bad player but just not worth the money and term he has left. We free up this money now while we can, if people think we can trade him, if not letting him go to Seattle is definitely something to think about.

Hang on to Giroux so we aren't totally throwing in the towel on competing now but moving Voracek gives us some cap space when a lot of our young guys should be hitting their stride.

I don't know specifically what we do with it to replace Voracek, would be something to look into. Just saying, he's only getting older and we can't count on the Cap increasing every year nowadays.

Voracek has more 5vs5 toi/game than Konecny and Farabee....our other 2 RWers. He s not getting used as a 3rd liner.

For all the complaining, for forwards:

Giroux-leads team in 5vs5 toi: 13:20
Hayes: 13:13
JVR 13:10
Couts:13:06-would be leading the team but his 6 minute game where he got hurt drops him to 4th
Jake 12:51
Laughton 12:51
Konecny 12:35
Farabee 12:14
then a gap
Raffl 11:28

It looks quite clear that ON AVERAGE, the top 8 get rolled out and get the most icetime. Laughton...yes AV likely him. But what people also ignore is that right after a PP, he tends to get the next shift since most of those other guys are on the PP.

So the "rotation" of the top 9 guys continues over a 3 minute period....just with the top guys getting it in PP minutes and then Laughton's being at 5vs5.

Marek and Friedman both laughed at the idea of us being able to trade Voracek in the current situation in the NHL flat cap.

Exactly what i've been saying. He has little to no trade value league wide. Best hope is Seattle or we are stuck with him for 3 more years at $8.25 million with returns likely diminishing each of those years.

League-wide over the same sample (at least 100 minutes played at 5v5)...

Meanwhile he's still 3rd in scoring and 2nd in points/60. He's doing his job and playing well.
