By the time he makes the NHL, we can transfer the "Beast Mode" mantra to him? Or, if its before Benn retires, maybe go with "Gone Bonkers Bourque." Shorter would be "Bourque uncorked."

There you go. Probably negotiated himself some bonus money into the contract and it took longer because of that.

2nd in points and goal scoring in the MHL (guess who was first in goals :sarcasm:)

This isn’t a one-trick pony pick like Guryanov.

Kisakov has insanely good positioning and creates a ton of offense with it. Not to mention he is very effective defensively with back checking being one of his best skills as well. Something you don’t see in top scorers of Russian junior leagues (or Russia at all lol)

I have no doubts about him producing when he jumps to the KHL next season either. If this kid’s available to us in the 2nd (doubtful the more I read) he’s a great low risk/high reward pick.

Biggest concern about him would be that he weighs a whopping 141 pounds .

Was looking through the draft history on Stars drafted players to see how many they drafted were "skilled" guys. Regardless of if they make it or not, I like the taking the chance on someone that could be a Kaprizov. Its kind of subjective, but I was bored.

Size: their primary asset is being large or defensive only
Skill: they have high hockey iq, skating, or puck skills
Two way: they have some skill or are a defensively responsible player with some offensive upside
Goalie: is goalie

2020:
Size: none
Skill: Bourque, Stranges, Ljungman, Oksentyuk.
Two Way: none
Goalie: Poirier

2019:
Size: Brinkman
Skill: Harley, Sjolund, Porco
Two Way: none
Goalie: none

2018:
Size: Loewen, Douglas, Eriksson.
Skill: Mascherin, Damiani
Two Way: Dellandrea, Back, Barteaux
Goalie: none

2017:
Size: Hawel
Skill: Heiskanen, Robertson, Davis
Two Way: Peterson
Goalie: Oettinger, Ferguson

2016:
Size: Tufte, Gardner
Skill: Stenqvist
Two Way: Karlstrom
Goalie: Point

2015:
Size: Martenet, Cecconi
Skill: Gurianov, Hintz
Two Way:
Goalie: Ruusu

2014:
Size: Peters, Karjalainen, Haydon, Sanvido
Skill: Honka, Pollock, Prapavessis
Two Way: Nyberg
Goalie: Moran

2013:
Size: Paulovic, Makela
Skill: Nichushkin, Ully
Two Way: Dickinson, Elie, Hansson, Paul
Goalie: Desrosiers

Funny how Size has a cumulative 33 games played, all by one player who you could arguably toss into Two-Way.

Yeah I thought about Gardner in two way but his college numbers werent that impressive and he was an older prospect when drafted. The other one was Eriksson, I thought I remembered him being a skilled guy with size, but re-reading most of the draft preview stuff he was more size and a great shot.

Always been a big believer that you just draft skill guys and let the rest develop. 'Two way' feels like a nice way of saying someone who is just ok offensively, and good defensively. By the technical definition, they're two-way, but give me offensive talent all day and hope the rest can come later. I've seen lots of players develop a defensive conscience, you can count on one hand the number of guys in the NHL who found new levels of unexpected offense later in their careers.

Obviously with a lot of guys in the first round, you can easily have great offensive skills and still pair it with good defense, you'd expect the top half of the first round to have less holes in their game than the rest. After that, if it's a crap shoot anyway, just pick the guys with the best skill, IQ, skating blend you can find. Those things are harder to develop. There are approximately 11 billion 3rd liners in the NHL that were highly touted offensive skill guys who just adapted their games to make it into the league when the talent wasn't quite enough to make a significant impact offensively. Still baffled, as an example, that Esa Lindell once lead the FEL in d-man scoring.

Gardner is not a two-way player . He's purely a defensive specialist. Two-way forward is someone who does both offense and defense reasonably well.

I think two way could apply to any defensive specialist who can produce 30-70 points in an 82 game season . :):thumbu:

To keep in line with the potential busts.
Albin Eriksson is rumored to be heading to Finland. To no one's surprise it is Lindell's former team and the one Kari Takko works for as an advisor, Ässät Pori.
Maybe he can take a step forward there similar to Stenqvist did.

I don't care if Al Arbour and Scotty Bowman personally coach Albin Eriksson, if you score zero goals in two entire seasons, I think you're a bust. Al Arbour is dead, and coaching Eriksson is only the second least believable scenario next to Albin Eriksson making the NHL.

I get the hesitation and lack of belief. But he was also sprung into less-than-ideal situation. Shitty minutes, constantly benched for no apparent reason. That will kill the confidence.
