Zboril and Senny can’t be real good, they were in the bubble and practised almost every day. If they were impressive they would have seen a game.

Even with Krug leaving and trading Moore, Bruins are still 9D deep:

McAvoy
Carlo
Gryz
Lauzon
Clifton
Vaak
Zboril
Kampfer
Chara

Beside Chara, all young, fast, and plenty of skills. Very cheap squad too leaving plenty of money to bring a top-F to help the top-9.

Get Hall and let’s have one last run with the band before Krejci+Rask deals expire.

Hall-Krejci-Pasta
Marchand-Bergy-Kase
DeBrusk-Coyle-Bjork
Kuraly-Stud-Wagner
Senyshyn/Par

Chara-McAvoy
Gryz-Carlo
Vaak-Lauzon

There’s absolutely nothing special about that defense

Chara shouldn't be on the first pair anymore and Vaakainanen isn't ready yet, nor should they be breaking in so many young D at once. Let Vaak marinate in Providence another year with spot duty for call-ups when theire are injuries.

Top #1 in McAvoy

Carlo is a great 3rd

Gryz is ready for more time. Best to get the puck and take it out.

Chara a top PKer and will shutdown any lines he plays against.

Lauzon-Clifton-Vaak-Zboril all fast, with size, cheap and improving. Rotate them in and out and more than able to play on a 3rd pair and against lower lines.

Kampfer is a great veteran depth option as a 9th.

Best part is that the unit will cost only 16-17M leaving plenty of $$$ to go after top-F.

Having all of your 3rd pairing options not containing a single D-man who has more than 100 NHL games is a disaster waiting to happen. And why would you carry 8 D when one of them (Vaak) can be assigned to Providence without waivers where he'd actually be playing. He's not going to get any better sitting up in the box at TD Garden.

And that is what it's worth, not a Stanley Cup D

I would agree to this. I would like to see Gryz on a bottom pair due to his size and getting pushed around in the post season.

I would personally like to see the Bruins focus on the offense add more secondary scoring and some toughness and size on the top 3 lines. Looking at the top teams it seems like the secondary scoring is playing a major factor in the deep playoff runs.

In all it´s simplicity, this is not a bad outline - Hall CAN be the difference we need if he meets expectations. I see Chara as doubtful on the first line (maybe some games now and then there) - rather have him on the second or third line. I definitely believe we should keep him another season. All our other D:s can and are only likely to get better, which raises their value and the competition will be great for both development and production.

Considering the present CAP and expansion draft... (+ previous experiences on injuries at D come playoff time), it´s probably most reasonable to go for a primary upgrade on forward and work with what we got on defence - sooner or later we have to choose whom we like to keep on D, but rather that be after the expansion draft.

I firmly believe Kase will deliver way better in the future too (injuries aside), so he´s a keeper to me! De Brusk will mature and round out his game eventually also - how much of that will happen this year (who knows)!?! Question is iwe dare to go this way or if we´ll go extra all in and strengthen the D too!?! IF Rask will not be back or is not interested in resigning, and a trade is imminent, then there is a completely different ball game, and we should definitely add to our D in my eyes and accept loosing Gryz to Seattle.

Yeah you need either Gryz, Moore or Chara available for that third pairing. Preference to me is Moore while rooting for the kids to beat him out.

Although I admit it would be magical if Kevan really is back and can anchor a bottom pair with a kid. Obviously foolish to count on that.
