I think you might be undervaluing him as a player. He is a very solid organizational fit. He is kind of like another Nick Paul. A very hard working player who makes smart plays, is defensively strong, a capable penalty killer, is physical and has above average passing and hockey IQ. He can play both center and wing and has the versatility to play on multiple lines. He fits in perfectly with the kind of player DJ Smith likes and Troy Mann seems to be very trusting of him.

His points per game production is better than Kelly, Reinhardt, and Kastelic as well as AHL vets like Peca, Cassels, Labate and Beaudin. Given the amount of scoring chances he creates and the plays which he directly contributed to a goal but was unawarded with an assist his PTS/GP could easily be right up there with Logan Shaw and Logan Brown. He has also been able to create scoring chances and put up points with less offensively gifted linemates. He has played multiple games with both Davidsson and Magwood as his linemates or at least one on his line and neither has a point this season. He has also played with Beaudin and more recently Beaudin and Cassels.

This is a guy that who has made meaningful improvements in his on ice performance each game he has played. He is younger than Kastelic, Kelly, Reinhardt, Crookshank and Brown. He arguably has higher offensive upside than Kastelic, Kelly and Reinhardt. He might also prove to be a better organizational fit than Brown.

The Sens value depth and are looking for a certain kind of player and Douglas fits that mold. There is going to be a lot of turnover this offseason so there is room for him so I don't see why they wouldn't add him to their prospect pool. Maybe I am jut really high on him but I think he will be a very solid piece for the Senators in the near future. I see him outcompeting and outperforming a lot of prospects and solidifying a depth role in this organization.

I was reading this and wondering who you were talking about. In the last para I finally found out. :)

Just in for tonight's game

The Set-Up:

The Belleville Senators are back against Manitoba Moose tonight in game three out of four after the Sens 3-2 overtime win last night.
The Sens are 15-15-1-0 this season heading into tonight’s game.
Roster Notes:
The Belleville Sens will have Kevin Mandolese in goal tonight, backed up by Mads Sogaard.
Vitaly Abramov, Cedrick Andree, Angus Crookshank, Jonathan Davidsson, Joey Daccord, Curtis Douglas, Brandon Fortunato, Ridly Greig, Filip Gustavsson, Jack Kopacka, Olivier LeBlanc, Zach Magwood and Colby Williams are out for Belleville.
Previous History:
The Belleville Senators continue a four game set against Manitoba Moose tonight, after meeting them eight times so far this season. The Sens are 3-4-1-0 against the Moose after last night’s overtime win, and overall sitting in 3rd place in the Canadian Division with 31 points.
Who to Watch:
Logan Brown has collected points in his last several AHL games (9 points in 13 games played) and is certainly getting back up to speed after his time off with injury. Cole Reinhardt scored the game winning goal in overtime last night, bringing his points to 12 (6 goals) this season.
Where to Watch:
Today’s game starts at 7pm and can be seen LIVE on Belleville Senators AHLTV brought to you by CAA, with the broadcast on TSN1200 and CJBQ800.

So Abramov, Crookshank and Greig continue to be sidelined with injuries. Cassels and Beaudin will fill in for the latter two. Can't wait to watch Brown performing his magic this evening.

Wonder if this game will affect how the org deals with Brown in the offseason, or if they've already made up their minds. I hope they give him one more chance in training camp next season

The org would be foolish not to. I wonder what the GM will do. Low expectations.

Abramov got injured in practice and is done for the season. Greig got cut by a skate and needed stitched. He is hopeful for the game Toronto. Crookshank blocked a shot and needed x Ray's. No fracture but there is a fair amount of swelling. He is possible for tomorrow but if he can't go then he should likely be back on Wednesday.

Wow, that's a lot of unfortunate injuries at a bad time. I wonder if they are going to play a number of their younger players to finish the yr?

Looks like no Logan Brown. Two line rotations in, Peca and Sokolov have had Jarventie and Kelly playing the left side with them.

Cassels is playing instead of Brown

Cassels and Beaudin are in for Greig and Crookshank. Brown was in the lineup prior to the game. Something must have happened during warm ups becuase Belleville is now a forward short.

Wow. I mean that’s completely ridiculous.
It must be related to his back or other previous injuries?

Otherwise....just forget it man.

Man the guy is ready to break out but impossible to do if you're constantly in and out with injuries. He has to find a way to stop getting injured. Ask Alfredsson or something, at some point he stopped being injured. Who else eventually stopped getting injured all the time?

Think how good Havlat could have been with less injuries, just one example.
