Robertson is a borderline elite prospect. He's not elite, but he's really, really close.
His brother is 6'2. If by some miracle if our boy gains a few more inches, he's going to be a beast. Imagine a kid with his game, skill set and shot who is 6', 6-1'.

So glad we traded up to get him. Odds of Gibson and Rakell turning into anything is like 0%.

Even if Biggs doesn't hit his ceiling, his floor is so high he's a guaranteed 3rd/4th liner. Those other two guys might be good players, but their floor is lower than Biggs, they could end up in the EIHL after not being good enough for the AHL or ECHL.

Not Biggs though, guaranteed NHLer.

A player with Robertson's attributes would be an excellent winger for Matthews or Tavares .. He just needs to develop properly.

His numbers before last year were not inspiring of any confidence, specially for a goalie who was drafted that high in the W draft. Highest since Carey Price.

While I'm glad he put up a massive season last year, he still has a long way to go to prove that he can be consistently good and potentially have a future with the Leafs. I feel much more confident in Joe Woll over Scott right now just because of a larger sample size of steady play.

Funny that s exactly what leafs geeks podcast said and they have watched alot more than me!

I'm coming at this this from a different standpoint!

Can you imagine being the best player at your position in the CHL last yr and getting no luv? Check out the top 5 forwards and D to get my point!

In Binnington we trust!

For anyone looking for a box score for yesterday's game. Here it is

St. Louis Blues vs Toronto Maple Leafs - Detroit Red Wings Training Camp - on Pointstreak Sports Technologies
Toronto Maple Leafs - Colt Conrad (Pepin, Lindgren) 2:21
Toronto Maple Leafs - Giorgio Estephan (power play) (unassisted) 1:06
Toronto Maple Leafs - Nicholas Robertson (Conrad, SDA) 7:21
Toronto Maple Leafs - Nicholas Robertson (power play) (Kivihalme) 10:13
Toronto Maple Leafs - Teemu Kivihalme (power play) (SDA) 12:12
Toronto Maple Leafs - Trey Bradley (power play) (Estephan) 13:10

Shots were 27-21 Toronto
Edit: it seems like the box score is wrong, and the live score listed Robertson with only one goal. I changed it to be more accurate.

Scott's numbers require context. The team in front of him this year was supposed to be a good team, not great but Scott made them great. The years before his team's were expected to be laughingly bad but again he prevent that.

Goalie stats really do require context you cannot take them at face value.

The odds of that happening are extremely unlikely. Most men don't grow more than a half an inch past the age of 18, also, people born extremely premature tend to be smaller than their siblings (Robertson was born 3 months premature). He's likely the height we drafted him at long-term.

Hear this about all small players, same was said about Marner at the time of his draft. Likeliness of happening I’m sure is slim to none.

I’m 5’10-5’11” ... my brother is 6’2”, my other brother is about 5’8”.

I’m sure it’s pretty normal for varying heights in siblings.

My friend is 5’7, his older brother is 6’5.

Seems like a much weaker lineup today, but if they beat Chicago they pretty much lock up a spot in the finals.

I wonder about the extent of the competition between Sapego and Kral for not only pro playing time this year but a place in the organization. Same as Zhukov vs. Boutillier

He reminds me somewhere between pre-85 point Marchand and Brendan Gallagher.

If he can be that gritty pest on the LW that can put up between 35-50 points a year I will be extremely pleased with the pick.

I think with his skill set he can easily exceed 50 points in the NHL down the line. The kid is a stud and he'll likely be more effective than Johnsson/Kappy. Wouldn't be surprised if he's top 10 for points in the OHL this season.

I rarely hype our prospects but this kid has it all and makes up for his lack of size with skill, tenacity, confidence and bite. He'll be seen as a real bluechip prospect after this season if he continues the upward trajectory.

I kind of feel the same way about him but his is still just 17 years old. We'll see what he does over his next two junior seasons. If he puts up monster seasons then I could easily see more than a 50 point player some day.

Long way between now and then though.

Robertson looks like that classic rookie who gives the big team a spark every time he’s on the ice and who becomes the X factor in changing the team dynamic, triggering a deep playoff run.

Depends. A lot of people have major growth spurts before they are 18 and then yes, they do stop after 18/19 besides maybe half an inch. If you did not have a major growth spurt, a lot of people still can grow until they are into their mid-20's. I was no more than 5'9" or so when I was 18, and I am now close to 5'11".

His prematurity may have stunted his growth, but both of his brothers are over 6'0". I would say even with that, he could grow at least a few inches. If he gets to 5'11" and then just bulks up, that's sufficiently large... Especially since he plays a far more skilled game than Jason anyways.
