Summer hasn’t even started yet. I’ll reserve my call for next year when July comes around. But if we go into next season with who is currently under contract with no other additions or subtractions, this isn’t a playoff team. However, this point means nothing because there’s almost no chance we make no moves. Well see. It is definitely an uphill battle this offseason

Do they, though? Tampa has to sign 7 players this offseason with ~8M in cap space, including Point, and also have to extend Vasilevski for after the '19-20 season. Granted Callahan's contract falls off after this coming year, however they're still saddled with Killorn, Miller, Gourde, Johnson, and Palat all making between 4.5-5.3M per year for at least three more years

All of those contracts are easily movable except for Callahan (who they can pay to move) and Johnson (who has an NMC).

Its essentially what LESS THAN worst case scenario would look like, as Jarmo would have literally done nothing to change or improve the team. I still don't think that offense is that bad really. Wildcard team.

I'm honestly glad the rumor is false, because I would be quite concerned with Roslovic's attitude, based on that and other things I've seen/heard, if it was. So I'm glad it's not.

Someone who's been overlooked so far throughout this thread is Brayden Point. Tampa is reeeeal close to the cap and are apparently looking at signing EK65.

You need picks to extend an offer sheet. We don't have our 2nd or 3rd next year, so the only available option if Duchene walks is in that "four 1sts" range.

It shouldn’t be a problem at all to get in that range if we offer him a 6- or 7-year deal. Something around $54M for 6 years puts at $9M AAV but also in the 4+ first round pick compensation. We’d maybe need to go higher than that anyway because Tampa I think would be likely to match that.
