Holy **** I know we don't need LD but vlasic is a big boy

Robertson and vlasic are the top 2 ld available. I think we go winger tmrw
Well, while we do have a bunch of good looking young lefty d-men, they are all small, so a big d-man like Vlasic or Robertson would still be a nice fit.

Every team practices it. If you get to your pick and you have 2 guys available that are pretty much even, position can come into it based on organizational depth, but it has nothing to do with your biggest need in the NHL at the time. Shortsighted thinking is how sports teams get into serious trouble.

That's what my point is though...it's always the case it's relatively even when you start getting into 50-60 on your list, there's seldom a stark line of delineation when you get to the middle-back guys on your board.

Obviously I agree you can't pick for 'NHL need', especially in the later rounds but if you're lacking RD in the system, Ray's eventually gonna find a way to use a couple of picks on that even if they're just projects.

Everyone figured Kalyiev would fall from what I've read the past few days. I wouldn't take him at 34 but if he falls past that, I wouldn't be mad. He probably won't put it all together, but if he does he'll be great.

I was really hoping one of Bjornfot or Suzuki would somehow fall to us. Regardless, there's highly regarded prospects still on the board and we have lots of picks to work with. I'm excited to see how this plays out.

The hell they do lol. I've been a dolphins fan for 30 years. They have never drafted BPA all the time.

They probably claim they do and I'm sure most of the time it's the case but they aren't exactly picking first-round QB's either and I'm sure at one point in the last two decades a first or second-round QB would have technically been BPA. The BPA mantra is an overly simplistic black-and-white way to look at a draft board rating system once you get past the first 30-50 whatever picks.

Sitting pretty at 34.

Dangle it out there for some immediate help Ray, someone will bite.

If not we get a damn good player.

Win/win
With the guys on the board, if we do trade #34, we better be getting a legit player back.

Exactly. It applies to round 1 and that is it.

I don't remember Lavoie having attitude problems, but he did have consistency issues. I was expecting him to fall but not this much.

NGL, if we don't move up, I'm really looking forward to waking up, getting a bacon egg and provolone on a toasted sesame bagel, and streaming this draft on the big screen
Sausage patty, egg and cheese on a toasted roll with sriracha or you're doing it wrong. Especially if you're in NY.

There could be some confusion with the term BPA here, when I say BPA I definitely don't mean some league wide consensus, I mean BPA on the Devils' list. When you get deep in the draft there can definitely be multiple guys that you see as pretty much even. This notion that because LD for example is a big need at the NHL level we should pick one at 34 is complete nonsense though.

I'd say even much earlier then that.

Now I'm really excited for our three second round picks. Lots of talent still available, we'll end up with some really good players.

And just think, Saugus, this all started with Bowman being a lunkhead.

This set the tone for the entire night, leading to a scenario that we have now going into tomorrow.

Define how you are using BPA, because every team has a different draft list. If you are comparing who they picked to some scouting list by the media or fans, you aren't using that term the same way I am.
