From watching the game between the Oilers and Canucks last week..Both teams looked pretty even to me (although, we were missing our star player)..The only difference are expectations, they are expected to make the playoffs, we are not.
Yeah ..one playoff appearance in the last 12 years (do I hear 13..?) is pretty harsh. The only (big) difference is that they have been at this sucking stuff for a decade longer than us.
Imagine if McDavid was a Canuck. Wouldn't have Boeser but be VERY DEEP with solid centers for the decade+ to come.Remember when the Oilers won the lottery for McDavid and 1/4 of the board was on suicide watch? Remember when everyone who wasn't completely devastated by the news was an idiot?

The Oilers today are as much of a joke as ever and it is funny
I hope I'm wrong, but barring some serious injuries, I still think it's pretty inevitable the Oilers turn it around sooner rather than later (remember, they continue to get rewarded each year with high picks, on a roster that already has McDavid), and I think a lot of the hubris here reeks of tempting fate. How many guys that good just go through a whole career without eventually making a serious run?

the Oilers are likely the most poorly constructed team in the cap era considering they have a generational talent, over the cap, and no where close to being a cup contending team.
They’ll make the playoffs soon but with over half the teams in the league making the playoffs how much of an accomplishment is that?I hope I'm wrong, but barring some serious injuries, I still think it's pretty inevitable the Oilers turn it around sooner rather than later (remember, they continue to get rewarded each year with high picks, on a roster that already has McDavid), and I think a lot of the hubris here reeks of tempting fate. Guess who they had that season, Jordan EberleEdmonton made the playoffs in McDavid's second year, 2016-17
Thar 05-06 miracle run to the G7 of SCF ruined the team, every single meh players on that team got an extension, not to mention it was the first season of cap era too.Yeah ..one playoff appearance in the last 12 years (do I hear 13..?) is pretty harsh.
Edmonton has gone through multiple GMs and still leave Lowe and company in charge.Edmonton will fire their GM. Aquilini won’t. Again, I don’t think we have the upper hand as a fanbase.
It doesn’t matter, all those old boys are still in their management group, they will find another muppet that fit their philosophy.Edmonton will fire their GM. Aquilini won’t. Again, I don’t think we have the upper hand as a fanbase.
