So, by virtue of points percentage, the Canucks are back on top of the division. However, they have to win those games in hand, and the next one is against Boston. We know that even coming off a back to back on the road, the Bruins will be awake for this one. Just drag this game to a shoot out, the Bruins are just awful at them.

I just wanna see someone take it to Marchand.

Like just once before he calls it a career?

As a Canuck fan, the win definitely got a bit overshadowed by the zamboni driver.

30 of 42 points and 13 ROW in 21 games if this team wants to be the best of the JB era. Also 41 goals.

I'd be very surprised if Vegas doesn't win the division at this point.

Ranking their remaining schedules:

Out of 21 remaining games for Oilers, 10 are against teams currently not in the playoffs.
Out of 21 remaining games for Canucks, 9 are against teams currently not in the playoffs.
Out of 20 remaining games for Flames, 8 are against teams currently not in the playoffs.
Out of 19 remaining games for VGK, 8 are against teams currently not in the playoffs.
Out of 17 remaining games for Coyotes, 8 are against teams currently not in the playoffs.

March is going to be a killer month for the team, so many games so I hoped they enjoyed the time off over the past few weeks. The good thing is that this team seems to play better when they have a lot of games played in a row. Markstrom seems to raise his game when he plays a lot and the rest of the team seems to gel.

Lastly - the team will have to fight to make the playoffs, this should bold well for them once they get in as they are already in the win mode vs. the Canucks of old who would have 1st in the division locked up by now. Going to be exciting few months as we watch this young team get the experience they need. The only unhappy Canuck fans (if you can call them that) will be the tank crew.

maximum points that western teams can accumulate:

Colorado - 121
St. Louis - 120
Dallas - 118
Vancouver - 114
Edmonton - 113
Vegas - 112
Nashville - 110
Calgary - 108
Minnesota - 107
Winnipeg - 105
Arizona - 104
Chicago - 102
Sanjose - 96
Anaheim - 96
Los Angeles - 88

Current Bar is 89 points to make playoffs. 89 to be better than 9th current pace.

Canucks would have to go 7-12-2 to be below that bar.

I hope this board doesn't freak out when we lose vs MTL tomorrow, like they did vs the Wild.

Be prepared

i can see edmonton taking over the division with the moves they made today. vancouver has to go 16-2-3 with 21 games left to reach 99/100 pts to securely lock a playoff spot. also depending on the out of town scores when they're not playing. hopefully most of these games dont become a three point game. demko's net to control from here on out until marky is healthy

The 8th place team is going to need 90 to 91 points. We need 19 points out of 42 available points to make the playoffs. 8-10-3 would do it.

oh probably. once the 3point division games start piling up. they do at this time each year and that bar creeps up a bit. I just like to see the maximum each team can achieve and post-deadline is a perfect time to type it out.

Any chance Ferland, Leivo and Boeser returns come playoffs? You guys would have a pretty scary roster with them + Markström returning..

Boeser is almost as good as confirmed to return before the regular season, accoding to Benning its why he didnt spend to the limit at the deadline because he knows Boeser is going to be coming off LTIR.

Leivo unsure, knee problem which makes it more difficult because he litterally couldnt be active while rehabbing. He would be tough to count on.

Ferland is done for the year and entering a danger zone of possibly being done career wise imo.

Looking ahead:

Montreal is well rested tonight, they havent played since Saturday. This is a danger game for us with the West to East travel and play. They did move guys like Kovalchuk, Thomposon.

Ottawa on thursday. Ottawa played last night in Columbus then tonight in Nashville before playing the Canucks in Ottawa on Thursday. It will be 3rd game in 3 cities in 4 nights for them so we need to come out flying.

Leafs on Saturday: Leafs are playing in Tampa tonight then Florida on thursday then Canucks in Toronto on Saturday. Thats an easy travel for the Leafs so they will be full strength playing Canucks.

CBJ on Sunday: very tough game due to travel. Only positive is that CBJ is hit hard with injuries including to their stud goalie Elvis Merzlikins last night. Who knows how long he is out for. but guys like josh anderson, atkinson, bjorkstand, dubinsky, seth jones, wennberg, texier are all injured. We need to grind out a win. They played yesterday, then home and home vs minny today and on Friday..then they wait for us for Sunday. They will be rested.

16-2-3 would give this team 106 points. With 72 points and 21 games remaining and assuming 94 points gets you in, the Canucks only need to get 22 out of a possible 42 points.

After seeing what others have moved to get help JB did a great job in getting TT. Sending a small middle prospect and a pick for a player that can play in the top 6 and provide some grit is what this team needed to make the playoffs. So the Canucks do not become another team that never seems to improve they need to build a winning culture and seeing how the team has responded when they plooped the bed has been great.

The team has shown they can play with every team in the league so lets make the playoffs and see what happens.
