Sergachev is ticking me off lately. No one wants to be cooped up and bored to death all day but the average person does not risk infecting the entire Lightning locker room. I sympathize with Sergachev wanting to live his best life and have fun but any athlete should know it's simply not a good option for them right now. I hope the matter is being handled privately. I hope Sergachev doesn't get sick but I don't want him getting anyone else sick either.

I'm gonna be the least surprised person in the world if leagues have to suspend play again.

Don't want other teams having an advantage? Then rally up the guys and ensure everyone is being safe. Hold players accountable. Yesterday Sergachev posted videos from the gun range and the tennis courts.
This is my thing. If you want to play for the Cup, *especially* as a multi-million dollar professional athlete - just stay the f*** home. It sucks but you can get the team to delivery your food, do some isolated outdoor activities where social distancing is easy, and control your environment to limit the spread.

Is it fun? No - f***ing of course not. But if I can do it making a fraction of what they make, they can too.

My idea initially was this Cup would not be "tainted" because ultimately everyone is operating under the same circumstances - but if teams are losing entire lines/pairings to Covid because some 20 year old doesn't want to wear a mask and wants to go to the bar instead of drinking at home, just f*** it.

I went back and read the nhl’s 20+ page pdf they put out detailing phase 2 and I didn’t see anything in it about eventually moving to enlarge the groups from 6 to 12. This number wasn’t just to keep the amount of players together low, but also essential team personnel like trainers and medical staff too. Does that increase as well now? Who made this decision, and did the players have a say in it?

I understand the NHL wanting to slowly work up to a full team practice, but that was not the intention of phase 2.

We have no sniff who tested positive? I tried to dig but the lips are too tight
Medical privacy.

I figure that when they're actually playing again, we'll be able to make pretty good guesses after guys start getting pulled from the lineup.

As for Sergachev, tennis doesn't seem too bad in terms of catching COVID. He may have also already gotten it, so he feels he's immune.

Weren't there rumors one of them was Vasy?

Ultimately I guess it barely matters. The big concern is we're falling behind while other teams are getting into game shape. We've all seen what missing training camp does to a player's performance out of the gate.

I don't have Instagram so I don't know how much going out he may actually do. But I saw the one video here someone posted with his girlfriend. If he's playing tennis with her, who I assume he lives with, what's the big deal? Maybe he played couples which would just bring two other people into the mix, that's still not a big group. The gun range you are shooting by yourself, it's not a group activity. Sure there may be other people at the range but there's other people at the gas station too and your allowed to get gas still. It's not like he's going to Busch Gardens where there's thousands of people. Seems like his stuff is pretty normal especially with most of the restrictions have been lifted. Why does he need to lock himself in his home and have to have every meal delivered when the rest of the world is allowed to leave their house and be somewhat normal?

Too harsh on Sergachev, all the activities he's posted have been within social distancing guidelines, yes he's posting videos outside but there's is literally nobody else around him in any of them. It's clear he doesn't have it either otherwise he'd be in strict isolation, so couple guys here jumped the gun on that.

I can own up to that, the videos he's posted recently are far more innocuous. He was definitely more laid back prior to the June outbreak, but its unfair to single him out vs other players who have also posted videos being out and about. He just happens to be the one who's most active on social media.

It might not even be that bad for some. Didn't Rudy Gobert say he had no idea he had it because he had no symptoms? I'm sure the players who tested positive were in the same boat. Sure it can be deadly to some who get it but so can the common cold, very few do but still possible.

What do you want the country to do, stay on lock down? If you're worried about getting it then keep doing what you did while it was in lock down, only go out for essentials, wear a mask if you do and was your hands regularly. By now everyone should know what symptoms to look for and there's places to get tested in every city. A few athletes testing positive isn't going to change my opinion on this virus. I still believe it isn't as bad as they feared, I think the worst is behind us and that we need to move forward but still be cautious and if you use common sense will be fine.
Sure. All the testing takes nearly 10 days to get results, testing availability is falling short again, and people are too stupid to survive in America which I feel bad about, but if they're too dumb to protect themselves I guess i'll be shopping for cheap real estate this time next year.

They should just have both in Canada. I get the allure of Vegas but the numbers have been climbing there since they re-opened casinos. In Ontario we've been having less than 200 cases a day and in Alberta its only been double digits. There are also far more available rinks than in Vegas.

I don't really get putting a hub in Vegas with the casinos open. If they were still closed, sure, but there are too many young, bored players with a lot of disposable income.

How are the numbers looking in Minnesota aka the hockey state? Were they ever considered?
They were on the shortlist, but they are out.

I do wonder a bit about how the protests are affecting decisions. Arenas are normally downtown where most of the activity is. I've seen video of protestors in Orlando getting sprayed feet away from the Amway Center. (CW: pepper spray, language) The Geico garage is directly connected to the arena via a bridge, if you've never been there for a Solar Bears game. At 1:48, the gray looking wall on the right side of the screen is the west side of the arena. (398 S. Division Ave, Orlando if you want to check the site out on Google Street View)

If the arena has a police presence, they could draw protestors themselves.

Edmonton case numbers have been stupid low for a big city in Canada, this could due to plenty of factors but they have only had 900 recorded cases. Vancouver has also done an amazing job so no surprise they pulled out.

Here comes the cba fight

Its going to end the same way as the NFL situation ended. You had the high end rich signed player contracts wanting reform and telling the lower end players to do this for the rest of the league. While the lower end players are going to lose out the money from sitting out and not playing. If all the players in PA get a vote, it will end with the lower end players deciding to take a fair deal rather than help a player like Panarin who's making 11.5M a year.
