If the refs dont overturn this I give up. Eagle returner is laying on the ground with the ball and the entire Giant team is laying on top of him. Clearly Eagles ball.

EDIT: Thank the lord. That would have been horrendous.

I always thought even if the camera catches a guy jumping on the ball, it's whoever emerges from the pile with it. Once the scrum happens it's anything goes. I've never seen that reversed

Maybe I'm wrong and it has been reversed in the past.

After a ridiculous, "Unnecessary Roughness" penalty against the Giants, Troy Aikmen says, "they've kind of taken a lot of fun out of the game, haven't they?"

Yes, Troy; yes they have.

Yes. If a guy clearly has the ball underneath him and he's in possession, it's just like any other down-by-contact play. S

Shurmur looked really bad today. Just totally schooled by Pederson who is a great great coach. Didn't throw the challenge flag on the drop by Ertz (And there was another play I think where he needed to challenge something but didn't)

didn't watch any of the game, saw Barkley had great stats.

Must have been an absolutely miserable night in the rain for Giants fans.

What makes it different this time is QB's are actually complaining about rules designed to protect them. I seriously doubt the league will ever get rid of some of these protecting the passer rules in the future but I think they will ease up on this extreme enforcement. There will be more games ruined and more outraged fans this year. And ridiculous double standards in terms of what is allowed to happen to one QB but not allowed to happen to another

Philadelphia is just extremely impressive. They scheme and use their personnel better than any team in the league. And they get the most out of them and put them in positions to succeed. Last night was the perfect example (and this is what a young Belichick used to do when facing teams with multiple skill players) you can't stop all of them so totally concede to one and focus exclusively on the other. They totally made Beckham irrelevant and they conceded to Barkley. It worked. Giants had nothing downfield all game but they left a lot of room in the flats for dump offs and such. That was fine because they could get to Eli with a conventional pass rush. Every time the Giants started to move in small increments down the field the Eagles would cancel it out with a sack or a pressure and throwaway that left NYG in a 2nd and 20 or 3rd and long and the drives would inevitably end in field goals or punts

Giants not having a capable TE really hurt them today. That could've changed things a bit

Eagles will be owning that division for a long time. They are just so much better than the rest of those teams.

Driving home from class, turned on ESPN Radio and the stat that blew my mind was that Barkley accounted for all but approximately 20 yards of the Giants 167 yards of offense.

Pretty wild.

Odell seems to be losing his shit more and more. Everything appears it'll fall on Eli in the end, but he's certainly not the only thing that the Giants need to look into replacing.

Barkley had a monster game. Still, 96 of his 130 yards rushing came on 2 plays. I'm still not sure if this is what he's going to be, a "big play back", or if he's better than that and suffering because the Giants offensive line isnt very good.

Blood gin is correct too, in that the Eagles clearly made the decision to take away Beckham, his longest reception was 12 yards. So 22 of 41 Giants yardage touches went to Barkley.

It's strange the way the NFL is constructed these days. Running backs regularly have great games and teams lose. Convincingly so. The positional impact of them has been degraded.

I regularly watched Curtis Martin put up between 1600-2000 total yards every season. He wasn't flashy but he was an absolute machine in terms of workload and efficiency. Couldn't even make it to a Super Bowl with him.

Well the Jets didn’t but he did get to one in New England lol. It is telling the number of great RB’s that don’t win - Earl Campbell, Eric Dickerson, Barry Sanders, LaDanian Tomlimson. Thurman Thomas got to SB’s but never won one.

What kind of masochist would watch the Giants, who will be worse than last season (mark my words), than a 6-0 Devils domination?

Why do one or the other?

I watched the Devils live while taping Eagles/Giants.

Started the tape during 2nd period intermission, went back to it during the Devils postgame, and caught up live by the end of the 3rd quarter.

Adrian Peterson too who was a generational talent. Also OJ Simpson though everybody wants to forget about him. If you don't have that QB you won't win. You will find yourself stalling in the red zone very often and settling for field goals

Devils & Eagles win on the same evening!

Eagles suck but I'm a Jets fan so thank you, Eagles for burying them.

And with the 3rd Pick in the NFL Draft, the NY Jets(Not the NY Giants who chose to draft a Running Back when they have a QB that's running on fumes) select their QB of the Future : SAM DARNOLD. :sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm:

If the Giants approached the Browns right now and offered Barkley for Mayfield the answer is no.

If they went to the Jets and offered Darnold for Barkley the answer is no. They just got 300 total rushing yards from Crowell and Powell. Not first round picks but they are giving the Jets more than they need at the RB position

It's just weird cause I feel funny criticizing the Giants for passing on Darnold since Barkley HAS lived up to the 'gold jacket' hype so far...but blood gin's post is correct above. Time may show they got the better player at his position and that'll make the people who harp on BPA happy but QB >> RB in terms of value in the NFL. A potential top ten-twelve QB is worth infinitely more than a potential top 1-3 RB.

The irony is the Giants may well luck out and bomb again where they can right the win-now wrong of last year and get their future QB. Or they may luck out and it's Lolletta (sp). It's not even so much that passing on Darnold for Barkley was the issue, it was the win-now mentality it represented with going all-in on a QB going downhill and an o-line that is still a turnstile. Signing Odell long-term might not have been the best thing either if he's going to go back to being full diva.

The other thing is what was the plan long term even if this season worked out into a playoff berth?

Now you did too well to draft a future QB so who replaces Eli? Sooner rather then later Eli has to be replaced. That isn’t even a knock on him, he is long in the tooth.

It was just hard to take the win-now approach seriously when the o-line was once again not addressed. Eli can’t move. He can’t extend plays. If you can’t give him time, he is going to have really awful games.

Just seems so obvious, but yet here we are.

Barkley was the BPA in the entire draft.

I want to believe that, unfortunately they play a lot of bad teams from here on out and will probably win just enough to miss out on herbert and lock.

I had the Devils on my tv and the Giants on a pc until halftime when I decided that I couldn't watch anymore of that beatdown. Don't f**k up my Devils high man.
