Agreed. They have the assets and the obvious need, much more than the other teams mentioned. Surprising that they didn't go harder after Famillia.

FWIW Mike Francesca in New York who tends to be reliable when it comes to insider info claimed a Mets source told him interest in Familia was not great because of the previous domestic violence incident he had and that was why more or less only Oakland and one other unknown team were involved

As a result, things are strangely quiet on the Hamels front. An executive for one team in the starting pitching market said the Rangers have "nothing'' going on with Hamels at the moment. Another club recently discussed Hamels on a conference call and came away with reservations that he can be an impact addition down the stretch.

Honestly surprised neither Joakim Soria nor James Sheilds are drawing much interest

Soria after rough start to year has been fantastic and has ERA of 2.56 and 16 saves while Shields is pitching his best in years and would be solid vet addition for back of rotation (And pen in playoffs)
