For a team that's allegedly on Stone if it REALLY is them then this is basically an admission of that they aren't gonna get him. Whatever asset they trade for Coyle would be best suited for getting Stone first

Unless Boston lands more than one star, they don't scare me a whole lot. I think our depth is still better and we've proven we can shut down a big line. So unless they can assemble a big second line to go with it, I'm not overly worried about them. More worried about the Leafs and the big Metro teams.

So word is we're still exploring options to upgrade on RD. Ceci, Hamilton, Pesce, Faulk, Parayko all seem way too expensive (both in trade value and remaining term on their contracts).

Come on, we're talking Girardi replacement here. Plus we need flexibility and some kind of (cheap) backup plan in case of injuries.

I’m all for protection on the back end in case of injuries....but how would a depth defensemen fit on the roster?

I think a lot of these guys wouldn't actually be an upgrade on Girardi. We still play Girardi over his head, which is always the problem with him.

It feels almost like we're under pressure to "add" because that's what you're supposed to do when you have a good team. But aside from the really big names, I don't see any of these guys as clear improvements over what we have, and the big names are gonna be so costly they're not really worth it to us.
