Today is the last day for Mckenna's conditioning stint. Hopefully Morin will start his conditioning assignment tomorrow. Hopefully they waive Mckenna tomorrow and he gets claimed.

McKenna will be claimed for sure considering the Canucks have Dipietro up as an emergency goalie call up.

Maybe we can swindle a 7th out of them so they ensure they get him.

Elliott doesn't take up a roster spot on his conditioning stint because he's been hurt for longer than 14 days/6 games. But the loan period can only last six days or three games, which means the three games the Phantoms play this weekend.

Getting to Know the CBA - Episode 7: Waivers

Conditioning Loans
A player can be sent to the AHL on a conditioning loan with his consent without having to clear waivers. He can't spend more than 14 days on this conditioning loan though. He'll continue counting against the team's roster and cap limits. He can also be sent on a long term injury/illness exception where he won't count against the roster limit, but he can't be sent on one until he's been hurt for 14 days/6 games. The long-term loan can only last six days or three games, although a team can request an extension to be approved by the commissioner.

They could do the same thing with Morin starting a week from now, and by the time the six days were over, it would be past the trade deadline and they'll be able to carry as many players as they want.

Schedule - Lehigh Valley Phantoms

Last 11 games flyers won every single one goal game. I seem to remember flames doing the same back in 2013 before they bottomed out next year.

If Morin is on the Phantoms on his conditioning stint during the trade deadline, will he be eligible for AHL playoffs without having to clear waivers?

No a condition stint is essentially just off an off the books grace period where a guy can spend a few weeks in the minors without having to go through waivers & all that. The player has to be back up with the NHL team once the period ends.

So the Flyers would have to put Morin on waivers if they wanted to send him back down past that conditioning stint period.

Good clarification. Thanks.

He has to be back up, but he can remain on IR in the NHL for a while even after playing games in the AHL. It's dodgy, but the Leafs got away with it last year.

Nikita Soshnikov is still injured?

The man who just scored three goals in five AHL games playing on the top line is going back on IR per Lou Lamoriello.

It really can't be understated how terrible Hagg is.

He is too slow, too unskilled, and too low IQ, to play effective defense at the NHL level.

He is post knee-problems Grossmann Jr.

It's really the IQ that's the primary problem. He just can't think the game quickly enough and it's a fatal flaw in a hockey player at this level.

Morin isn't a high IQ defender either but he is quicker, longer, and better at handling the puck. That's why im confident he will be a better NHL defensemen.
