for Buffalo, you need to use the combined ratings. Many watch CBC there. Before HDTV became available, MOST watched games on CBC (I grew up about 20 minutes north of Buffalo in the town of Niagara in the 80s and 90s. CBC was the preferred choice for hockey coverage). NBC ratings may be lower than the Buffalo CBC ratings

Tonight is a big one in Boston. B's vs Hawks. an original six matchup and rematch of a recent SC Final between both... Up against Celtics vs Sixers. A great matchup of 2 great teams..

So who wins the ratings night? You have to think the Celtics win easily.. I hope i'm wrong.

Fenway,

Can u put up the result some time this week? thx. i would love to know.. I just hope the B's can come close. Or who knows, they might even beat the celtics. I doubt it...

How do they actually get the numbers? How do they know who is watching what?
Can they track who is watching what from satellite providers?

@Nicky Santoro It was a statistical dead heat - Bruins had a 60-minute head start but the numbers indicate viewers were going back and forth.

Last Sunday the CBS station in Boston ran a poll during their Sports Final segment and the results were surprising and left the host speechless

Boston in 2019 the Patriots are now an undisputed #1 in the market and the Red Sox even being the defending champions are a distant #2 - Bruins and Celtics are #3 and #4 but closer to the Red Sox then the baseball team is to the Pats.

But all 4 major teams in the Boston market are healthy and the MLS Revolution are ignored except by their hardcore fans.

What's remarkable is 25 years ago the Patriots were in the #4 position

Exactly. The league will never compete with the other three ports. It's too regional in the U.S. For instance, I bet mostly everyone in Pittsburgh knows who Sidney Crosby is. If you asked fans who Connor McDavid was, they'd likely say "Who"?

That's a bit of a stretch I'd say......1st off, the majority of hockey fans are in the n e corner of the U.S. Hardly any real hockey fans south of the Mason/Dixon line for example..All the black dudes dont watch hockey.etc etc Most cities draw similar and even more viewers for their NHL club then they do for their NBA team. Philadelphia for example, The Flyers have always drawn more viewers then the 76ers for at least the past 10-15 yrs

That a 2.6 rating is the second best rating ever in the Tampa Bay market where there isn't another sport going on in that city during the Lightning season (maybe they watch the Magic).

Still good though - higher TV numbers are always a plus.
Those numbers as far as I can tell are all relative to individual markets.
