Now that football is essentially over, these cable ratings really need to increase. NBC finally added diversity to the schedule and we are rewarding them by not watching

NHL is regional. NBC needs good teams from traditional markets. Blackhawks, Rangers, Red Wings, Flyers,... are bad and therefore TV ratings will be down this year.

"Entering the All-Star break, NHL regular season games have averaged 377,000 viewers across NBC and NBCSN — down 3% from last year (388K). The three games on NBC have jumped 26% to 1.85 million, but that has been outweighed by an 8% decline for the 53 games on NBCSN (284K). All figures include streaming.

Keep in mind that NBCSN has aired significantly more games involving Canadian and small-market teams this season.

Man...if only Buffalo could manage to ever get into the playoffs again, we’d once again see NFL-like local ratings for playoff games there.

You can see the pent-up demand, despite enduring years of bad hockey.

Buffalo is unique. There is no other city like Buffalo in NBA, MLB or NHL.

That All Star game rating is downright embarassing. The "Highest" rated NHL game would still be at least 5 times smaller than the "Lowest" rated NBA game.

Bad luck as well - ABC had a marquee NBA game between Boston and Golden State and the NHL ASG started off with an early blowout in the first game.
