The 633K that Bruins-Caps did Wednesday on NBCSN was down 24% in ratings, 27% in viewership from Blues-Penguins last year (850K), down 28 and 30% from the Blues-Blackhawks in 2016 (905K).

Yeah here's the article not good posted in another thread you would've hope the successful playoffs would have carried over to ratings.

The game was also 5-0 around 8:00 into the 2nd.

It makes sense that that game would suck, ratings-wise on any day. It just so happens it's on an easy day to compare to previous seasons.

No love for Bruins in Boston? :skeptic:

It was against a Patriots game...

In Buffalo (from Alan Pergament): The game had a 9.2 rating on MSG. That is down about 15 percent from the 10.9 for the 3-2 shootout loss to the Montreal Canadiens in the 2017 season opener.
It opened with a 10.3, peaked at a 10.6 rating from 8:15 to 8:30 p.m. Interestingly, the game averaged a strong 9.5 rating for the final 45 minutes of the telecast.

Compared to hockey cities (Boston, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Buffalo,...), the number is still poor...

Hey we are becoming a hockey town in DC man. Nice to see you back we're gonna need you to run the thread this year again with the ratings posting format. Here are some numbers I got that just came out. Can you compile them with the ones that have come out so far?

Flyers started their season in Vegas, not Anaheim. Was national coverage in Vegas.

From my source who has access to local ratings in Canada:

Leafs season opener was up about 20% in Toronto compared to last years opener. Tavares mania is real.

Jets rating in Winnipeg was down "significantly" from last years opener. It seems like the honeymoon period is over in Winnipeg. Between the declining television ratings and attendance issues (couldn't sellout playoff games last season) Winnipeg might not be a long term sustainable NHL market.

oh wow, did not know that, thought Winnipeg would be selling out everything, esp since there team is very good, and it always looked sold out everytime I watched them on T.V

@NextBigThing This could be the most erroneous claim made in the history of BoH. I can assure you Fugu is sending thunderbolts over this ridiculous statement.

Winnipeg has sold out EVERY game since the team moved there in 2011-12. They had as many or more people OUTSIDE the arena during the playoffs last year. Numeris which handles TV ratings in Canada DOES NOT officially offer overnight ratings for the Winnipeg market.

2 years ago Ottawa had problems selling tickets for playoff games which were well documented - I assure you that is not the case in Winnipeg.

The Next Big Thing has made many questionable assertions regarding the Winnipeg market like the 20-something share from last year's playoffs. Quite funny considering we don't measure things by"share" in Canada like they do in the US. His fallback is usually his "source in Canada" - something that cannot be verified.

Offhand I remember tweet from stating that 3/4s of Manitoba households were tuned into one particular Jets' playoff game. Wish I could find it. I also remember this story from Sportsnet

Jets, Golden Knights the big playoff TV draw in Canada - Sportsnet.ca

Over a third of Canadians — 13.7 million — tuned in to see the Jets down the Nashville Predators in seven games in the second round of playoffs, according to numbers provided by Sportsnet.
The Golden Knights eliminating the San Jose Sharks in six games drew 11.4 million watchers in Canada.
The Lightning’s five-game series against the Boston Bruins drew 10 million, while the Capitals versus the Pittsburgh Penguins series that went six games reached 9.4 million Canadians.
The improbable run of the Golden Knights in an expansion season — and with 16 Canadian players the most of any playoff roster this year — has been a compelling story in these NHL playoffs.
But that still can’t compete with a Canadian team still in contention for a Stanley Cup.
Even excluding Manitoba, the Jets remained the favourite button on television remotes in Western Canada with 22 per cent more viewers in Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C., watching Winnipeg versus Nashville than the Knights-Sharks series, according to Sportsnet.

I will wait for actual verification from a legitimate news source about Winnipeg Jets tv ratings year-over-year. Those of you who regularly visit this thread would be wise to do so as well rather than rely on the postings of an individual with a tendency towards anti-Canadian bias.

I can't see it.
Still way too good, way too soon, and way to many fans that lived through the departure to believe that the honeymoons over.
