:)

Stadium Series 2019 had more viewers that any MLS Cup (on single network) 20 years back :)

That's a great number but you have some sort of complex about MLS you're always measuring NHL to MLS 100+ yrs vs 25 yrs. NHL has been around far longer with more tradition which has allowed for it to grow a larger base of fan support on TV. Punch up not down. Look at NHL numbers in contrast to MLB or NBA TV ratings. We shouldn't have to bash a newer league to make us feel good about NHL. The real wakeup call for me was AAF doing better numbers than NHL or MLS Cup. Football is king not just NFL. Solid number though 2 million (1.95m)

NHL ratings are compared to different leagues all the time in this thread, including times when it is not exactly flattering towards the NHL. I don't think Coinneach is the only poster around here with a "complex".

I get that, coineach is back and forth on things NHL ratings wise but I'm talking specifically about his constant post in regards to NHL vs MLS comparisons. I'm unapologetically a fan of MLS on top of being a Caps fan too amongst being a O's, Terps, and Skins fans.

Honestly there's very little "open dialogue" in this thread about NHL vs the other league other than the occasional post like "the Bruins/Celtics are both playing tonight I wonder how they do". When deeper discussion about NHL's National TV ratings occurs it's a sore subject. There are some who bring solid info like Fenway (inside info from his time in the media business) and even Coin(ratings) when he's not being a troll . I've seen some users even begrudge coineach for suggesting a NHL number is bad.

However right now I'm specifically talking about Coineach constantly comparing NHL to MLS like well "NHL had a better number than MLS Cup:)" and constant sharing from his twitter account of tweets comparing the two leagues. I'd hope NHL would compared to the how long the NHL's been around. I'm only speaking to what he does, he can continue I'm just speaking my mind on it when he does.

If we're honestly comparing numbers shouldn't we feel more concerned about the NHL numbers in comparison to the other leagues NHL is competing with to unseat ahead of it, Instead of always comparing the older brother NHL's popularity on US TV against it's growing younger little brother MLS? I get why it's done it makes A few folks feel better, but lets be honest about the discussion as a whole.

I'd rather hope to take out the next league ahead of us MLB than constant post by coineach in this thread about how we are bigger and taller than our little brother MLS. Well yeah....?

2.6 is abysmal for a home market. Compare that to areas like St Louis which earlier in the thread had a rating near 8, or Buffalo, where ratings can exceed 10
Dude it's New York, there's like 10 things going on each day here that in any other city would be the top story.

If you are going to do a post comparing the numbers why not do a post comparing the you know actual numbers of the MLS games that actually aired during part of that NHL game. Why not use the apples to apples time frame at the 730pm time slot that Sunday night?

There was two MLS games that aired at 6 and at 830pm timeslot those MLS games viewing numbers were 394k and 361k but of course you know that @Coinneach would find the lowest viewing number he could find during MLS Opening weekend for a game on a totally different night and use that instead of using the apples to apples head 2 head time frame in his "comparison". It's not that MLS has the better numbers it doesn't, no one is saying that, it's just pathetic to try and make the difference in the reported numbers appear greater than what they were actually reported as.
