No way Nylander returns Leafs this dumpster. He's right there on par with a #2-3 Dman in terms of value right now+potential he has. Maybe even a #2-3 Dman+ a pick if the D is 30+ years old.Based on the current Caps defense I wouldn’t trade Carlson for Matthews.
Nylander gets you Burakovsky, Djoos OR Bowey, and a 3rd.

I wouldn't worry about that too much, Backstrom is close with the Nylanders, he can put Willy in his place if necessary.Nylander also comes off as extremely arrogant and that can be disruptive to a tight knit locker room.
Depends on whether Djoos, Bowey and Siegenthaler are ready for a raise in playing time (17-19 min territory each). Orlov doesnt produce anything offensively this season (dare I say - even defensively) so if they can take a bit more responsibility while having a guy whose bread and butter is a puck possession in Nylander, they will be fine.I wouldn’t trade Orlov for Nylander either.
Yeah but none of those players are close to being ready for a top 4 role on a contender.Depends on whether Djoos, Bowey and Siegenthaler are ready for a raise in playing time (17-19 min territory each). I think i would think long and hard whether to trade Carlson for Marner+Nylander. Offering just one of those guys for JC is just insulting.
I'd give a long look for that job to Siegenthaler.Yeah but none of those players are close to being ready for a top 4 role on a contender.
He's not. Carlson is in his prime and his impact on the team's game way bigger. When Nylander hits at least 75-80 pts we can return to this.In terms of pure trade value, Marner and Nylander are worth more than Carlson.
But considering positions, contracts, and you know, stuff that matters, Carlson makes us a better team.
That's a trade both teams don't do.
Panarin is so clearly New York bound.
He wants a big city, the spotlight, they suck and have money. 10/10 fit.
Eh I'm talking about them both together. He's not. Carlson is in his prime and his impact on the team's game way bigger. When Nylander hits at least 75-80 pts we can return to this.
Oh okay then. Two of them worth probably more than Matthews himself.Eh I'm talking about them both together.
Carlson is of course worth more than Nylander.
