No way Nylander returns Leafs this dumpster. He's right there on par with a #2-3 Dman in terms of value right now+potential he has. Maybe even a #2-3 Dman+ a pick if the D is 30+ years old.

But of course that D is not Carlson. That was foolish to even suggest that.

Nylander also comes off as extremely arrogant and that can be disruptive to a tight knit locker room.

I wouldn't worry about that too much, Backstrom is close with the Nylanders, he can put Willy in his place if necessary.

Depends on whether Djoos, Bowey and Siegenthaler are ready for a raise in playing time (17-19 min territory each). Orlov doesnt produce anything offensively this season (dare I say - even defensively) so if they can take a bit more responsibility while having a guy whose bread and butter is a puck possession in Nylander, they will be fine.

I think i would think long and hard whether to trade Carlson for Marner+Nylander. Offering just one of those guys for JC is just insulting.

Depends on whether Djoos, Bowey and Siegenthaler are ready for a raise in playing time (17-19 min territory each). Orlov doesnt produce anything offensively this season (dare I say - even defensively) so if they can take a bit more responsibility while having a guy whose bread and butter is a puck possession in Nylander, they will be fine.

Yeah but none of those players are close to being ready for a top 4 role on a contender.

I love Marner and like Nylander but I'm not trading a bonafide 1RD for two wingers who aren't in the top 15 at their position. Not a chance.

Panarin wants to be the man on his team. He will never consider Caps as his next destination as a free agent. Also he will cost way more under the cap than Nylander. I'd bet it's gonna be at least 2.5M of difference.

No, they're not. Carlson skates 26 minutes/night and is an all-situation 1RD that QBs the league's best PP and eats PK minutes. He is growing into a top-10 defenseman in the NHL. Two young wingers are not worth more than that.
