not sure what Froese was thinking there, I'm sure Bouchard won't be too happy with his vets. Can't fault McNiven on that 2nd 5 on 3, though would have liked to see him get that 2nd one.

Just wish he would put Scherbak with Froese.

He put them together at the end of the second.

Scherbak had a few bad moments. But overall, he's having a very good game.

saw that, he had some nice passes. If I'm a scout for another NHL team watching Scherbak, you can see the good and the bad with him. He sure can feather passes but at times he does dumb shit out there. Plus with the way he skates it looks like he's not always going hard. Would really like to see what would happen if he played a full year in Laval, I assume he gets traded but if they somehow put him on waivers and he cleared it would be interesting to see how he would do after spending a full year with Bouchard. Just don't see him lasting long under Julien.

Pretty even third period so far.

After killing a penalty earlier, Laval now goes on the PP.

Laval was having a terrible PP until the very end, Chaput deflects an Evans shot. 4-3 for Laval.

And Laval headed back to the PP right away again.

Laval win it 4-3. Best part is that they won in regulation and they didn't give Utica any points.

But it was a very confusing end of the game. Evans clears it and it's whistled as an icing right as the buzzer goes off. People were confused if it was icing with a second or so still on the clock or if it was really over. Laval didn't care, they all exited the bench to celebrate the win. Finally, refs officially call it a game.

with the win Laval back in a playoff spot. Just goes to show it's way to early to be looking at the standings, and posters that were worried about the slow start likely weren't watching the team play as they have looked the part for almost every game just that the offense needs to get going, the PP has been bad and they have a really young blueline with 4 rookies. As long as they play like they have this season and just start finding a way to put a few more pucks in here and there they should make the playoffs imo.

McNiven didn't look bad, but he did let in 3 goals in 17 shots. I was surprised by the goalie change but Bouchard made the right call as Lindgren stepped in and shut the door, making some very good saves to keep Utica from scoring on some real good chances.

Scherbak with a good game. H wasn't a world beater, but he put in a solid effort and while he still pulls off some head scratching plays, he had a positive impact to the game, creating some really good chances for his linemates.

Like @Tyson said, Fleury and Evans continue to impress. These rookies are coming out of their shell with each passing game.

Audette, aside from his goal, wasn't much of a factor. His line wasn't used much in the third when the game was tight.

Big test for Laval in the coming days. They have Cleveland coming up in back-to-back games on the road on Friday and Saturday. And then they return home to face Toronto next Tuesday.

So far, with the 7 coonsecutive divisional games, Laval has amassed 4 pts out of a possible 8.

For Maine, Verbeek was added an assist on Maine's first goal. So he now has 2 assists tonight, and 3 in 2 games.

In following the NHL/Montreal prospect pool management, via development and quality opportunity being provided for less than half of the prospects under contract.

I conclude that the NHL and in conjunction with/from NHLPA, a change should be made to allow players to move to AHL only.

Basically remove affiliation from ECHL.

You pick them you play them mentality.

I suppose in conjunction with eastcost removal we need to reduce number of players allowed under contract or impose it as a penalty for violation or mismanagement of athletes under contract.

Basically, there has to be a penalty on clubs for not making decisions and committing to their prospects.

Don’t know about other clubs but Montreal is sitting on fence now for quite some time on 93-96 prospects.

We need to force decisions and movements of athletes in order to maintain integrity.

To many opportunities are political vs talent driven especially with clubs having deep pockets. Too many decisions are also made without working current inventory vs simply buying or getting more inventory. If that makes sense.

Before any expansion NHL and NHLPA needs to examine and improve in this area.

There is no way NHLPA agree to lower the contract limit. I don't see how your changes would improve things either. 5-7th round prospects would almost never get signed and AHL vet would leave to Europe since they would be stuck with AHL deals instead of NHL 2-way. It just lowers the chance of late bloomers and depth guy to make it to the NHL.
