Addendum... Many NHL AGMs are the AHL GM, so the "conference" call may just be between two folks.

Maybe so...In this case you have 4 distinct people....George McPhee....GM VEGAS....Wendell Young...GM CHICAGO WOLVES....Kevin Chevedayoff....GM WINNIPEG JETS....Craig Heisinger...GM MANITOBA MOOSE...Like I said most likely all 4 on the call and for sure at least 3 of them with Heisinger MAYBE not involved...
In this case...Oligny was Vegas property so McPhee has to be the one to trade him...Freddy Charles going back is just a nice way of saying you got something for him instead of take him and pay him we dont want him anymore...the fc in this will be nothing...McGinn going to Chicago was another freddy charles deal...same story....bottonline is the trade was initiated by one of the teams looking to shore up something in the AHL...MY GUESS is chicago intiated it on the assumption the Pirri won't be reassigned and needed to add forward depth...Manitoba was most likely looking for help on D so the deal was put together. I can guarantee you Chicago is paying the rest of Mcginn's salary this year.

VGK trades Oligny for FC. Manitoba trades McGinn for FC.

Those "future considerations" are the other trade.

I don't see how you think WPG has no say in Manitoba dealings when the team is owned by it's NHL parent.

(Now AHL Chicago is an independently owned franchise, but they are affiliated with VGK. My guess is that VGK is contractually obligated to provide X goalies and Y skaters. Even though McGinn is an AHL contract, VGK may be paying it.)

Winnipeg has no say in what happens to McGinn...he's not their property plain and simple....did or does Craig Heisinger consult with Chevy on player moves...without question....does chevy make the call...no that's why there is a separate GM in Manitoba..to deal with the team in a way he sees fit while in consultation with the parent club GM...not to exclusively do the bidding of the parent...otherwise why have a separate GM and waste all that salary?

The "number of hats" isn't relevant. You can't trade an NHL contract for an AHL contract. You can do what they did and trade each for futures, but teams cannot trade NHL contracts for AHL contracts as pieces in the same trade.

Koules is back with the Monster after an unsuccessful try-out with the Finnish club of HIFK.

Koules played 2 games with Cleveland back in October before leaving for Europe.
