Wallin's been up 3 times already, whether it's Hartford or elsewhere
Wallin (Hartford), Tyler Spezia (Grand Rapids), Ryan Faragher (Stockton) and Domenic Alberga (Tucson) have each signed 3 PTOs with the same team.

Is there a trade deadline in the AHL? Will any of these guys get a callup or traded?

(Edit: broad strokes, may not have all details correct off the top of my head)

Yes. Like NHL TDL; often a "paper" transaction so that NHL-roster players so they can be eligible for AHL playoffs. ECHL-call ups only eligible to play in playoffs if emergency situation. (However, NHL-affiliate parent can assign newbie prospects after that. So kids who finished their CHL/European seasons or newly signed can play.)

AHL TDL , as I recall is set up in and around the final full month of each season, and each franchise has to submit a roster of eligiblility, usually around the 1st of March , aka the "Clear Day" roster, then each affiliate is limited to 4 recalls within that month

Is it possible for any AHL players to be traded to any NHL teams that might need depth or not?
Is there a deadline on any AHL players being called up or traded after the NHL trade deadline?

that is something I can no longer state what that rule is since it no longer applies to our franchise

Players on NHL contracts can be traded (by NHL teams). Players on AHL SPCs can be traded to another AHL team. (Now, if NHL team A wanted to sign player B who is on an AHL SPC with team C, there's little team C could do to stop that. It's usual to ask permission of parent. I recall the NHL Sharks signing a goalie on AHL SPC, and they did ask the NHL parent first.)

Trades don't occur after TDL. (However, a NHL parent could assign a guy to a team other than their affiliate. Sometimes happens that a team wants to check out a guy for next season, or original NHL team has excess players sitting around.)

NHL teams are allowed to recall 4 times after TDL. (However, players can also be recalled on an emergency basis without restrictions. And you can bet NHL and AHL confirm that is the case.) And once an AHL team's season is over, there is no limit to recalls.

I looked on the AHL website and couldn't find it for this year, but typically the AHL trade deadline is a week or so after the NHL deadline. That gives teams a chance to fill holes created by NHL trades involving prospects that might have been playing in the AHL. (ECHL trade deadline is few days after that usually, for the same purpose. )

As hutch mentioned, the clear day roster is kind of the deadline for roster moves, although there are exceptions to that too. AHL teams can keep players on Pro Tryout agreements "in residence" if they aren't on the clear day roster - which means they travel and practice with the AHL team but can only play under "emergency conditions". "Emergencies" are basically whenever the AHL team needs to dress a player who isn't on the clear day roster because they are shorthanded due to injury, callup or suspension. They can also sign Amateur Tryouts, which are players whose college or junior season has ended. I don't think there are any significant restrictions on movement between the NHL and AHL. There may be some rules about it, but generally they are generous and have enough exceptions that teams can get the players where they want them to be.

In general AHL rules are set up to benefit the NHL team, and to promote player advancement over other concerns. If something affects the AHL teams ability to win games, or the competitive balance between teams, that is a lesser concern.

The clear day roster as it was no longer exists.

Red Wings sign Turner Elson to two-year contract

Turner Elson of the Griffins battles for position.

Turner Elson, who is enjoying a strong season in Grand Rapids, was signed to a two-year contract by the Detroit Red Wings, it was announced Tuesday.
The deal with the forward runs through the end of the 2019-20 season. He signed an AHL contract with the Grand Rapids Griffins last June after playing the 2017-18 season on assignment from Detroit.
Elson, 26, ranks fourth on the Griffins in scoring this season with 28 points (12-16-28), while adding a plus-14 rating and 47 penalty minutes in 44 games.
He has already surpassed last season’s production (9-12-21 in 57 games play), is just two points shy of equaling his AHL career high, and his 16 assists have matched his career best total from 2015-16. Elson has accounted for all three of the Griffins’ shorthanded goals this season, tying for second in the league.

McFarland was sharing his time between Bakersfield (9GP 0-0-0) and Wichita (ECHL - 10GP 0-4-4) before announcing his retirement.

Cooper (19GP 0-4-4) was under contract with Milwaukee. He had recently been sent down to the ECHL where he played 5 games (1G-2A) before leaving for Sweden.

GRIFFINS TRADE TREVOR YATES TO WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

Posted Today
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday traded center Trevor Yates to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in exchange for future considerations.

Yates, 23, has skated in two games with the Griffins during his first full professional season and totaled four penalty minutes. In 27 appearances with the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound center shows seven points (2-5—7) and eight PIM.

A four-year player at Cornell University from 2014-18, Yates made his pro debut with the Griffins at the end of 2017-18, playing in two contests and logging his first pro point on an assist.

The Central Division-leading Griffins continue their season-high seven-game homestand on Saturday at 7 p.m. against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The Penguins has assigned Yates to their ECHL affiliate in Wheeling.
