I think it's obvious. It all depends what the svouting staff thinhs.

I work with a guy named Thinh.

I never took him for a svout.

Imagine how funny it was when he showed up and someone else at work at the SAME NAME.

Oh boy, those Thinhs really do have some expert opinion, the whole svouting staff is always coming to them for advice.

Little did he know that the majority of posters on this board are English majors. Except me, I do math.

Don't have to be an English major to appreciate good writing. If you're trying to start a hockey site and get people to read your material then you can at least make sure it's well written. Otherwise you're setting yourself up for failure.

We are a Mel Brooks board, and there is second part to "major".

This year Carolina is not expected to look at defence at the top of the draft as with the emergence of Brett Pesce and Jacob Slavin and the recent draft of several high-end defensive prospects the Canes are absolutely loaded with talented defencemen under the age of 24 that is perhaps only rivaled by the Anaheim Ducks.

Clearly not a fan of punctuation. I think the content of the piece is slightly above the quality of the writing/grammar.

Some of my high school buddies are engineers nowadays, and at our reunion a couple of years back they owned up with pride mixed up with shame that they at their job as a rule skip the cheapest offers from potential suppliers if their offers are to be considered mess in the grammatical sense. Especially the failure in writing together the compound words is going to cost you business with them.

Touche. Listened to Steve Kouleas talk to a writer from Buffalo about a real possibility of Kane being shipped out and we were mentioned.

I'm sure we would be mentioned as we obviously need scoring help but given the character of our organization and the showboating personality of Kane I just can't see it.

That's the extent of your take from this writeup..a single typo..that you feel has to be copied and pasted into this forum to show how smart you are? Lots of anal folks out there. Good lord is right.

1. Get over yourself, President McCagg.

2. What you're doing right now is pimping your content business, basically. In general, we tend to be pretty skeptical about that stuff, especially when it's presented as "expert" content to a bunch of folks who do nothing but argue about this **** all day long -- but when the content is full of tyops and mispelings and grammatically errors and so on, it's all the more painful.

3. Ellipses have three dots, not two. OMG SO ANNOYING. Does that make me anal? Maybe so! =\_(ツ)_/=

4. Your guide actually got a good mention in another thread around here as something someone might want to pay money for. That kind of feels like it's not true anymore!

I mean, the write-up's not bad at all and gives some solid names that we should be looking at. But definitely could use a bit of a proofread.

DUDE. Ignoring the lack of commas and periods throughout:

and the recent draft of several high-end defensive prospects

would be a boom prospect

whether the svouting staff thinhs there is a potential starter

...and I noticed that someone else pointed out that you had originally labeled us as Calgary.

You want us to read your ****? Why should we, when it's clear you haven't.

EDIT: I guess I was a little late to the response party. Sorry to pile on.

Yeah, typos, grammar, and punctuation aside, the thoughts are solid. Personally, I think this year's draft is all over the road so it will be particularly hard to pinpoint some of these prospects and where they might end up.

McCagg's website has some very good analysis and his draft guide is quite good with respect to the overall analysis and content. I'm not sure I noticed any sloppiness there and I am one of the resident English majors. But I tend to read more for context and am less exacting.

What if Francis was able to acquire Eberle for one of our 2nd round picks (#52) and a prospect? I know it is a long shot, but if he were able to pull that off, would you consider trading back in the 1st round to pick up another asset?

On the main trade board I proposed the idea of the Canes trading with STL giving up #12 and #42 for #20, #27, and #51. It seemed to be somewhat well received.

My logic was that this is a boom or bust type of draft. The guy we get at #12 might not be any better than the guy we get at #20. At #20 we'd likely have our pick of Ryan Poehling, Isaac Ratcliffe, Robert Thomas, or Josh Brook. One of Rasmussen, Suzuki, or Vesalainen might still be on the board. Then at #27 we could take a flyer on Klim Kostin, Maxime Comtois, Jason Robertson, or even Jaret Anderson-Dolan....and we'd still have 2 second round picks.

We might be down grading that first pick a bit, but from what I've read, there's very little consensus after the top 5 or 6 guys. The 3rd best pick in the draft might end up being #30. Who knows!

Depends on who's available at #12. IE: say Mittlestadt (who seems to be slipping a bit to some) is there, I take him and don't think twice about it. But if our best option is between say Rasmussen or Suzuki, and we see Thomas, Poehling, or someone like that as just as good an option, I do that and then roll the dice at #27.

don't you need to be a partner to post your own stuff or is that only main board

FWIW, the partner program has been discontinued. Writers are welcome to post original content here, provided it passes the sniff test that we would apply to any material posted on the boards (e.g., don't spam, don't violate copyright, no explicit stories about Summer Ruutu, etc.)

And we are welcome to trash that content, when warranted.

Something about Owen Tippett keeps bringing me back to him. I don't know what the deal with that is, but I'm curious what we'd do if he was still on the board when our selection hit. With as scattershot as this draft is between 3-15, there's really no way to tell. There will be very few picks considered to be reaches in that range.

Yeah the idea that Mittlestadt might fall isn't completely unwarranted. USHL and High School kids are huge question marks. I thought Kyle Connor was a lock for top-10. The real meltdown happens when he falls and the Canes still pass.
