Just a question but would anyone want Boyle back, seems to be very interested in coming back, although that was clear when he left. Vegas also seem to be interested in Boyle.

Yes I'd be very interested in signing Boyle back good vet locker room guy and good a faceoffs

I think of this were true, Yzerman wouldn't have contacted him again.

I don't think people appreciate how often GMs ask each other silly questions (i.e. is <starplayer> available) even if they know the answers. Its a big life lesson in "you never know what you can get until you ask".

YAY to Yanni's re-signing! Kid deserves it!

Meh to Sustr's re-signing, though, as some have said, it is probably just a one year/insurance-until-a-rookie/prospect-is-ready deal.

Yes, I would love to have Boyle back in place of the injury prone Paquette. Solid on faceoffs, in the locker room and kicking butt on the ice when necessary. Does some nice dirty/at the net rebound/tip type goals.

Still hoping we don't get Shattenkirk. :P

Impatient to see what it will cost to resign Johnson and Palat.

on boyle yes i want him back for faceoffs primarily

dfc? tyler missed 16 games and 13 games and got a slashed broken hand in playoffs? missing a week so now hes injury prone? WTH what does that make stamkos unreal

gawd please allow us to have a season of good health again so people can see the light again:) Amen

Not sure you read the entire sentence, Rob. I said: Even when he's playing, it seems like he's always banged up. Meaning: he plays noticeably hurt more than any player in recent memory. That actually goes back to his breakout year, when he was 3rd(?) in NHL scoring at the All Star break, got injured, and then limped to the finish line that year. Then he healed up and became a monster in the playoffs.

But anyway. I'm saying we shouldn't trade him because there's a real chance Stamkos will have a 4th freak injury in a row.

Apparently Andrei Markov is looking for something like 3.5m x 2. (edit: Probably more as a UFA.)

Thoughts?

Hedman - Dotchin
Markov - Stralman
Koekkoek - Coburn
Sustr

I'd be interested if it's only $3.5m. He'd be a good mentor for Sergachev. I'm just not sure how much he has left in the tank.

Honestly think he doesn't have much left in the tank, however for that contract that is a steal for any one who signs him if true.

He still puts up points. And he puts them up at ES.

We'd probably have to manage his minutes, but slotting him behind Hedman, and next to Stralman, is pretty much the perfect role for a guy like him, I would think. A little bit sheltered, a little less responsibility. Just go push the play up ice.

Btw...we can absolutely HATE the term or cash...

but...

Shattenkirk makes our defense better in every way and is exactly what we need in transition and the PP.

Both money and game are inseparable though, it's a salary cap league, and managing your cap space accordingly is one of the greatest challenge in this game. And to roll out the red carpet for a glorified PP specialist is just a plain bad idea;

Yeah we've got to wait and see what Yzerman's plan really is but I don't like the start of this off-season one bit and I'm being polite... Ffs It's like we're trying our best to do the opposite Chicago and Pittsburgh showed over their past few Cup runs.

"Glorified PP specialist"

Come on...this is rediculous. We're better than that on here.

What if we signed Radulov and Justin Williams.

Gourde Stamkos Kucherov
Palat Johnson Radulov
Killorn Point Williams
Erne Namestnikov Brown

Hedman Dotchin
Koekkoek Stralman
Coburn Sustr
Sergachev

That looks like a pretty stacked team.

Yeah, hell no if that's the asking price. Those over 35 contracts are annoying to deal with.

No at 7... but you know, I think 5.5 might be doable. It's only a two year deal, and this is money we just earmark for Kuch and Point rather than giving it to someone else over longer term.

We're going to spend our cap space somewhere. I'd like to do it while giving as little term as possible, to players who can still perform, even if they're not what they used to be.

Blujus not qualified.

Jesus, Groulx must have some serious pull with Yzerman already. Blujus was good to start the year even with a messed up wrist. Wasn't given much of a shot after surgery but was expected to be the top RD on Syracuse next year. Makes no sense to go with Thomas, Cernak and Specncer with a combined 1 year pro experience. Have to think they try to get Witkowski through waivers to play there or something.

Damn that is, what other teams can boast about having a 5.8 contract sitting in the pressbox?

Williams if we ran out of options, yeah. But Radulov's demands seem a little insane.

Also, are you anticipating the annual Callahan injury or did you forget him? ;)
