The point is, this shouldn’t be happening. The effect of this is way more costly than any benefit I can think of. Keeping it in perspective, the Leafs had been paying Tucker 1 million each year from 2008 to 2014 for doing nothing. To me this has to be something with his agent Don Meehan and Lou having a history.
BUT, at the same time I can understand the Leafs resistance to not get bent over with these clauses because based on this it would be a guaranteed 2 million payout for nothing:
