Hmm...The guy that got us Erik Gudbranson, Brandon Sutter, Sven Baerstchi and Markus Granlund? Who drafted us Brock Boeser and Jake Virtanen? Brought in someone to mentor Jacob Markstrom in Ryan Miller?

Don't hate the player, hate the game. :naughty:

I'd like for you to listen to a little song today...

Jesus those are actually the highlights of his tenure?

I hear Mike Millbury and Doug McLean are looking for work, perhaps you guys should give one of them a call....it couldn't possibly get any worse

What a plunge for Michalek. 35-goal scorer done in the NHL at 31-years-old

We'll see if he gets more interest at a cheaper price (either later in the season or when he's a UFA in the summer). Not many teams could take a 4 million dollar cap hit right now. But yeah, the days of Michalek being a top 6 option are probably over.

..And I assume your highlights are:
Fredric Andersen, Brooks Laich (waived), Nathan Horton, Kasperi Kapanen, Milan Michalek, and Kerby Rychel
Traded away Kessel
Signed Matt Martin, Nikita Zaitsev and Roman Polak (again)
and finished dead last to get Matthews

Don't throw darts in an incubator.

Thanks, didn't know that!

No worries!

It is one of the more overlooked CBA rules here on HF, so I've got no problem helping educate! :)

13.22 When a Club claims a Player on Regular or Unconditional Waivers, and, subsequently, in the same season it requests Waivers on the same Player and the original owning Club is the successful and only Club making a Waiver claim, then the original owning Club shall be entitled to Loan such Player to a club in another league within thirty days without further Waivers being asked; provided that such Player has not participated in ten or more NHL Games (cumulative) and remained on an NHL roster more than thirty days (cumulative) following such successful claim.
(Emphasis my own.)

The reason people think that's not the case is because for the longest time the EA NHL series allowed you to immediately assign a player to the minors after claiming them off waivers. Not sure if they still do, haven't played in a couple years.

Etem has played more than 10 cumulative NHL games, though. He'd have to be waived again, regardless, by my understanding.

That's 10 cumulative since clearing waivers.
"[Player may be loaned] provided that such Player has not participated in ten or more NHL Games (cumulative)... following such successful claim"

So, if he plays 5 games and is sent down, he is safe; then if he is called up and plays 4 more and is sent down again, he is still safe; but if he is called up again and plays 1 more game (10 since clearing waivers initially), then in order to go back down he needs to be exposed again.

Interesting timing with the waive. Etem is in the Ducks' lineup tonight. Getzlaf was a game time decision, Etem likely would have been healthy scratched if Getzlaf was able to go.

Going back to a previous "waive" I had a chance to watch Anton Lander this evening and find it tough to believe this guy passed through waivers. While he may not be first or second line material he comes across as a decent bottom 6 type of player. His ability with face offs alone should have caught someone's attention.

Why didn't anyone claim this guy? Is it the million dollar contract or something?

3p in 61 games last year tied for 659th in points for the season. That's hard to do, most teams have 6/7 dmen that score at least that much.

He is good at FO's. It was beginning of the season so most teams were set with "their guys". If he hits waivers in Dec/Jan I could see someone grabbing him to cover for injuries.

How many teams need a $1M face off specialist at the beginning of the season who is an offensive blackhole (as I mentioned here -http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showthread.php?t=2134801&highlight=lander). He's become another Boyd Gordon.

At the deadline, he might be picked up on a team with injuries.
