Veleno is such a terrific skater, not as fast but has the McDavid glide. He must have so many takeaways in the q.

5-0 Sweden after two. Won't take long for Liljegren & Brännström to score if you take penalties.

Canada Black looked better that period.

The Canadian referees always bend over in these type of tournaments. Don't want to look biased so they call every stick on the body. I understand that they are 16 year olds but they've played in the CHL where it's rough hockey and are ready to play physically. Europeans don't play in a no-contact league either.

Sweden wins 5-1.

Liljegren-Brännström looks like the best D-pair we've seen in years on a Swedish junior national team. Could be an interesting tournament for sure.

The US has a lot of good ones too. Oliver Wahlstrom is the big name. Jake Wise. Bode Wilde if he chooses our side. T.J. Walsh. Mattias Samuelsson. Jacob Pivonka. But it's probably right to leave 2000s off the list with the Youth Olympics coming up.

The US actually might have a better top end group of 00s than Canada. But alot of young US top talent tends to drop off,as with alot of countries but still ( Khodorenko, Calabrese etc ). Samuelsson from everything I've heard is still pretty raw but might have higher potential than Wilde.

Do they prohibit hitting in this age group? I mean, I haven't seen a single hit in Canada White - Russia game yet. It's impossible to watch such a hockey after NHL. It looks like a slo-mo mode.

The US has a lot of small guys this year. Jacob Tortora (5'6") is everywhere on the ice. Sean Dhooghe (5'2"!) scored the winning goal against Canada Red. Dylan St. Cyr (5'7") got credit for the win, playing the second half of the game. Quinn Hughes, Logan Cockerill, Logan Hutsko, and David Farrance are all listed at 5'10" or under.

I was under the impression he's choosing Sweden.

Pretty tight game, could have gone either way imo. Considering Finland had the best roster possible, I am happy with the Czech's perfomace. As usual defense wasn't really anything great, though forwards were dangerous and made some nice plays.

Yeah I ended up finding it there and watched majority of the game. Finns were darn good. Czechs held their own and played some really nice hockey at times.
I was really impressed with Martin Necas. He is very skilled and fast. Obviously Zadina was fantastic as well. Too bad he didn't score the game winner in overtime on that breakaway.. Oh well. Kondelik wasn't very good and Safin had some okay moments.
Overall not a bad performance and I hope they can get into the playoffs.

Sweden has been kinda sloppy so far. Good PP in the first and literally a rush from behind his own net to a goal by Liljegren have it tied.
